My husband and I had a debate on the pope and marriage. I was saying that the pope isn't allowed to be married and my husband was saying that he is married. Now I try to look it up on line and the only thing that came up is that in history some of the popes were married. Now does that mean they are allowed to still? And is the currant pope married?

Celibacy is now a requirement of the RC priesthood (there are some exceptions for priests who left the C of E when they decided to allow women to be ordained). However, there was a time when popes and other RC clergy were allowed to be married.

The pope is Head of the Church and some might say he was married to the church but that term is not widely used. So you're right the pope isn't allowed to be married. This is believed to date as far back as the Fifth century, however, a small number of popes had children before they became priests.

The Pope, like all other priests, are no longer allowed to be married. Married priests became a problem in the dark ages, when children of priests started inheriting church land (which was legal at the time).

The current Pope is single in the secular sense of the word.
According to the Catholics he is married to the Church, much like Nuns are counted as the Brides of Christ.
(but it would be too gay to say the Pope is a bride of Jesus.)

There is no "pope" in the Bible. Peter was not a "pope". The catholic cult teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell.
