There are many, because there are no real gods to set people straight. A few that I know of are Sunni, Shiite, Sufism, and Wahabism.
After a human being dies, he is dead. That's all. Allah doesn't exist.

Alhamdhulillah, I am fortunate that I got birth as a Muslim. First of all, one must know that Islam is the religion for all the human-being and it is the way of life for all, irrespective of their colour, nationality, social status, gender. From the first human-being who arrived in this world to the last human-being who will get birth in this world, belong to the ONE ALMIGHTY who is called in Arabic language as "ALLAH". All the religions exist in the world, accept that there is a super-natural power which created this entire universe and beyond, but, it is unfortunate that people differ in their belief & worship. Whereas, the religion Islam is gifted by the Almighty Allah on the entire human-kind to follow and worship Him, the human-kind have had created so many so-called religions in the influence of bad-evils. Those who go through Islam's teachings without bias, would surely 100% agree that Islam is nothing but the "WAY OF LIFE" for all the human-being. We can find people from different religions (so-called) commenting bad about their religion but none of the human-beings who follow Islam, mention anything against Islam because Islam is the best suited to all the human-being (Exemptions are very very rare). Having said that Islam is the only religion for all human-being, there is no different sections allowed in Islam. If there are sections, it is again created by human-beings and not by the Almighty Allah. May the Almighty Allah bless all the human-kind with peace(Islam) and happiness in this world and victory in the eternal life.

In Islam all over the world They agree about the oneness of God They follow the same book - Quran(same words and letters all over the world). They follow the same prophet Muhammad . offer their prayers five time a day. fast in the month of Ramadan.Give charity (Zakat) which is the poor-due on the wealth of the rich go for hajj, pilgrimage to Mecca ...but they may have differnt opinions not on the basics
Those who follow some sayings and views of Ali (one of the early muslims leaders), as the rightful successor to Prophet Muhammad , are called Shia. Shia means a partisan (party of Ali) and it started more as a political party to help Ali in his conflict with his political adversaries.
About 90% of Muslims are Sunni, the word Sunni is based on the word Sunnah which is an Arabic word means the Prophet's Doctrine. Sunnis believe in (GOD) as the One Creator and Mohammad is His last and final Messenger.
but you have to know that the sects in islam not like the sects in other religions in other religions1- they can change in their books for example the Catholic Bible contain 73 books while the Protestant Bible has only 66 in Islam no one can change any thing There is not even one word of difference between two Arabic Qur'ans, anywhere in the world. There has been no disagreements in history among Muslims as to what should and should not be in the Qur'an
The Sunnah or Hadith consists of the teachings, sayings, and actions of Prophet Muhammad. This information was meticulously reported and collected by his Companions. It is essentially an elaboration of the Qur'anic verses that shows how they are to be implemented in one's daily life ALLthe true muslims agree about that

There are two main sects, Sunni's and Shia's which have numerous sub-sects that are often bound to certain countries and founding fathers and differ in their interpretation of religious matters. For instance, Wahhabis are a conservative Saudi Sunni sect while Alevis are a modern Turkish Shia sect. There are countless other examples to be found worldwide.

The different sects of Islam are not like the sects in other religions .They kill each other as they are competitors in the business of religions in the name of the same brand ,.The sects in the other religions do not have the guts to kill their opponents .There are Sunnis, shiyas , lebbais ,Sufis and much more that do not treat each other as equals .

Islam has only one sect called:
"Ahl alsunnah walja'at" meaning people following the methods told by prophet of God and his followers.
Another separated sect of Islam is "Shia" meaning a group which has separated.
Self expalaining names make clear.
And further smaller so called divisions are by bull-headed mullas to strike their heads but one thing is good that they never go out of the ring (sphere) of basic beliefs.
