Yes:
1. Get away from the negativity you often find on 'Answers' - in fact get away from your computer more. Go out more, do something active - this is not just to distract you, exercise improves mood without doubt.
2. Look at whats going on in your life right now. I'm glad you said 'down' and not 'depressed'. Many people confuse being unhappy with being depressed. If you are genuinely heading towards a clinical depression then some outside help may be needed. Ask yourself how much this 'feeling down' is affecting your ability to live your normal life. If its doing that a lot then go see your Doc. If you are talking about the 'normal' mood fluctuations that most people experience, then the chances are you can fix it yourself my making some simple changes to your routine. Antidepressants don't fix unhappiness - perhaps this is why they don't work for everybody.

Hello , is there any particular reason why you are feeling down or is it just a bad day? i think very many people get depressed at this time of year ,maybe it is a worry about Christmas and can they afford it. If it is an ongoing depression hunni ,then you can get help from your G.P. he/she can assess your problem and prescribe something appropriate for you . If it is a bad day then go have a bath ,put some soothing music on light a few candles in the bathroom and sit in a nice warm bath and just relax, think of the nicest things that have happened in your life ,enjoy the memories and hopefully you will get out of the bath feeling much happier xx.

My sister sufferes from manic depression and phycosis and her cpn told us a few sure fire ways to bring her out of her "dark cloud"
1) gentle and light exercise made doubly better if its outised and away from your home. How about joing a women session in the local swimming pool or just taking a slow walk around a local park or coastline.
2) do not stay by yourself, sitting and festering alone often adds to self pity and loathing, but in the same breath do not attach to people who you find annoying or are selfish and tend to dump their problems on you.
3)do something to treat yourself, crikey everyone deserves a treat and if it makes you feel better in yourself go for it, a hobby you love or a band you like, even if it is a double extra luxary choc muffin you can always refer to point one afterwards to make yourself feel better after eating the goey cake! lol
4) chat about random things that make you happy, but learn to chat about what is troubling you to begin with.

Hope i have helped and if you would like a sympathetic ear feel free to email me on yahoo answers anytime. I have many years experience of dealing with my sister and a cousin, both suffer from depression in different forms so i may be able to offer some form of guidance if only a kick up the bum to do something.

Remember treat yourself.... it works. Hope i helped.

Hi Tulip

Why you feeling down??

What you need is a cuddle.

Failing that, rent a good DVD, a bottle of wine and order a pizza and have a cozy night in. Always works for me.
