I have the same problem. It goes in phases with my son. He will wet thru any diaper I put on him within an hour 1/2 of putting him down for the night.
I found that Huggies Supreme ($$) usually work the best. Ive tried the Huggies Overnight and a few of the other overnight diapers, but they dont work.
For a while, I was putting on a fleece diaper (cloth diaper) over his disposible diaper. But he looks like a sumo wrestler and didnt like it.
I try to check him about 2 hours after bedtime and change him. Even then, He leaks on occasion.
I'm not sure witholding fluids is the key either...my son doesnt take a bed time bottle any longer, and might sip on water before bed..but I havent seen a connection when he doesnt drink anything.

I would firstly not give him anything to drink before bed or during the night and put a fresh diaper on right at bedtime. Also maybe change his nappy before you go to bed (they are usually such heavy sleepers that they don't even wake while you do it in the cot that is)
If that fails, change brands to something like Huggies just for night time as I found these the best for overnight leakage problems.
Or you can buy pad type things to put into diapers to absorb extra fluid.
I would say though that your child is having too much to drink before bed or during the night. Limit fluids in the 2 hours before bed time and nothing in the hour before, also a child over the age of 6mths should not need anything to eat or drink (IE- bottles of milk) during the night.
Also make sure the the diaper is appropriate to his weigh, that is big enough and not too small and therefore unabsorbent.

First of all try the next size up even if he is not the right weight he could be taller than average this is what the nappies company told me and if this doesnt work buy some liners that are made for cloth nappies( the thick ones) as this should help absorb more

Check the diaper section of your fav store...they may still carry/make diaper inserts that add extra padding to the area that counts without the bulk around the legs.....I had a 'heavy-wetter' and they work great!

they make inserts, but like a sanitary menstrual item, for this issue. this would probably be cheaper than double diapering.
sometimes not allowing a drink also is not an answer. my son is limited to drinks and still has this issue. it's more a bladder emptying issue sometimes than it is how much the parent allows the child to drink.

Are the diapers to tight? Try moving up a size...that worked with my daughter.
Also, try not to give her fluids before bed.

If he's leaking, then you are probably letting him drink too much too late. Stop giving him anything to drink an hour or two before bed time and then make him go potty before bed.
Otherwise, if that doesn't help, they make GoodNites brand training pants- super thick and absorb EVERYTHING. Get those just for at night.
