After 10 years of having this problem I discovered, by accident that Lemon juice (about three tablespoons) in a bottle of water,
daily, has totally resolved my problem.

Do You have a good solution?

Interestingly enough I had read that the cause of acid reflux is because we kill off the good acid by taking to much medication to solve the problem.

The lemon juice corrects the acid balance.

I too am on 4 medications daily for Rheumatoid arthritis and Hyprothyroidism and it still works. It surprises me as much as anyone.
But the problem has been repaired for two years now. I personally am grateful.
I always look for simple solutions rather than more medication.

I have a diabetic Husband so we are on a very healthy diet to keep his sugars under control plus walking 2 to 2 1/2 miles every evening.

I understand the skepticism.

well the lemon solution does make partial sense. The stomach is naturally acidic.
Drinking milk or alkaline things will temporarily ease the syptoms, but the stomach will make more acid to compensate and to digest the milk. Its possible drinking mild lemon might actually help maintain a better balance. A friend with ulcers often drinks orange juice to sooth his acid stomach. seems weird to me ,but seems to work for some.

Don't over-eat, eat smaller meals.

Eat more easily digestible meals, pasta, soups, vegetables, fruit. less meats.

Don't lie flat, use a couple of pillows to elevate your chest and head.

see a doctor.

I'm sorry, but as one who suffers from this, acidic solutions are the worst. Acid reflux is a results of ulcers, to much acid is accumulated in your stomach and splashes against your esophagus, causing the reflux. So why would you want to add more acid to your stomach. I have no stomach lining, It has been eaten away by stomach acids. I have to take a lot of meds and I don't believe there is a simple solution to that problem. If anything, milk coats your stomach. It won't get rid of the problem, but it's better than acidic lemon juice. You need to see a Gastroenterologist. These MDs specialize in the digestive system. You need test. One more important thing, acid reflux gone without treament, is the leading cause of stomach cancer. Please don't try to resolve this yourself, see a doctor.

Wow, that seems counterintuitive !! Lemon is a source of concentrated acid and would seem to exacerbate the problem not alleviate it. But hey whatever works !! I was going to suggest papaya enzyme digestive tablets with warm chamomile tea post meals and light exercise to jumpstart your metabolic rate. A low acid diet is recommended but since a lot of highly nutiritous foods have some measure of acid this is problematic. My Dad always drank warm water with his meals to alleviate his symptoms. Glad you've resolved your problem, I understand that this is an annoying and painful condition.

I try and watch what triggers it, then avoid those things as much as possible. Haven't heard of your remedy, I would thing that the acid in the lemon juice would be another irritant as it is an acid as well, but if fit works for you, great.

Rice gives me acid reflux. I find that if I chew my food as long as I am supposed to I don't get it. Carrots, cucumbers, apples, peanuts are the worst .
