If so, how do you go about it?

how about if it's a person you don't want to be with anymore?

You don't have to be with a person you don't like, but you shouldn't wish them any ill will.
You should pray for them for whatever your circumstances surrounding that person might be.

It's hard to do sometimes and all Christians fail at this sometimes.

Yes its true that we should pray for our enemies. It would also be helpful to read 1 Corinthians 13 at least once a day. It really helped me live a peaceful life with people I'm not in good terms with.

Praying for our enemies teached us to be humble, it makes us realize that we also have inperfections and when we pray to God about our enemies, it widens our understanding.

When we pray it recognizes that we want God to take control over our anger towards the person. Relax, and pray for peace in your heart.

God bless you.

Great question - one of those life lessons learned the hard way - praying for our enemies actually helps us feel better by releasing all the anger, bitterness, resentment - even science will tell you are all stress-inducing killers.

When I pray for my enemies - and I've had only a handful of real enemies in my life, people who wanted to do me harm - I usually start with an honest prayer of forgiveness:

"Lord, help me - teach me - to forgive that bastard!"

And then gradually over time (and I do mean time, it may take months or even years in some cases) the prayer evolves into something like this:

"Lord whatever they are struggling with, wherever they need your help and comfort today - I pray you may grant it to them."

Yes, you should pray for them to be given a chance to turn around and stop being so mean. It's a hard thing to do granted, but God will reward you for doing this. Something might happen to them and they might turn into a different person by the event that happens to them.

According to Machiavelli, the best way to treat your enemies is to destroy them completely, when he said:
"For it must be noted, that men must either be caressed or else annihilated; they will revenge themselves for small injuries, but cannot do so for great ones; the injury therefore that we do to a man must be such that we need not fear his revenge."

But we are enjoined by our Christian/religious faith to treat our enemies kindly

How best do you think one should Deal With his/her Enemies

Love your enemies and pray for those who dispitefully use you.

However, those who kill by the sword shall die by the sword.

And it is a righteous thing with God to recompence tribulation to those who trouble you.

This is wisdom, the one that created this world and by which the world holds together.

Well, it aint easy but the bible says we shouldn't deal with our enemies even if its in our power to. We are to love and pray for them. We are also to do good to them.

Take care

You are really praying for yourself when you do this. The prayer is for the wisdom to see that all of us are one so the idea of an enemy is impossible.

Love and blessings Don

I am assuming you are a Christian. I am not however once was. You should not have enemies and should pray for all people equally.

I cant really say its true, no one really knows, it must be extremely hard to do, not sure if i could do it, but for the people in this world that are warped, cruel and evil doers, they are a sad product of our existance, and maybe evil was done to them, to make the as they are, so I suppose to forgive them would be good, who know's, it would be a huge thing to do, so hope this helps a bit, best wishes Janx

Yes but we like to kill them or say bad things about them, if it's a person that I do not desire to be with then I would just part, simple just put some distance there but you can't hate some one and say you love God.

like.."i pray that we may both resolve our problems in a way that lets us both go without harm." or....something like that, im pretty sure that saying just means "don't be selfish and understand others."
