I'm not just talking about Genesis or the entire Bible, I'm talking about when they go on about humans being apes or such and then denying it like evolution actually states that?
Seriously, I've heard people say things like "Are you a monkey? Cause if you are, you better go live in a zoo." when given the explanation that humans evolved from, and are, primates. Is it just that they take the idea of evolution as a short-term transition ("I've never seen a dog 'evolve' into a cat in front of my eyes") or are they purposefully misrepresenting the information that is clearly layed out in front of them?
Please, no essays explaining why you think evolution is 'flawed' or satanic, just stick to the question. kthnx.

Fedup: Not sure what you're saying. Are you saying that you didn't know what you were arguing about? Good show in admitting that if that's so.
Acid & PAULO: The chance element of evolution is only minor, it's a very strict non-random process in reality, you should read up on what you're arguing rather than using other peoples' really bad arguments. Additionally, evolution doesn't even try to explain an origin, you're arguing against the wrong theory.
Otaku: Hey Ota-kun :3 (did you see what I did there? xD)
Prof: I'm not talking about just taking something literally, I'm talking about taking figurative speech as literal. Please stop being so defensive and answer the question - Why do creationists take insist on taking things too literally (ie: figurative speech).
Cheryl: Not sure what you're saying there.
MrGlass: That's not true, it merely discredits a literal intepretation of Genesis. Interpreting Genesis as figurative would allow a mix of the two.

They are incapable of comprehending or intelligently countering anything that contradicts their fairy tales so resort to childish taunts and ad hominem attacks.
ADDENDUM

Simple answer, not everything is figurative.
More involved answer: Why do you not look at what evolution is actually saying instead of just sticking to the literal facts as you see them? The idea of evolution undercuts the very basis of Christianity, which states that humanity has a special place because we are formed in the image of God. If we are just an animal then that relationship is destroyed and therefore the entire purpose of the religion. Since the evidence is a LOT more ambiguous than you have been lead to believe maybe you should do some more research and understand what is actually being hidden beneath the technical terms and flowery language. You will be surprised by how much the actual evidence fits better with Christianity.

My definition of creationist is someone that takes the Bible literally. There are creationists of other faiths. Jewish, Muslims, Australian Aborigines, assorted other indigenous and pagan religions also have creation stories. I believe in God, and I accept evolution. I am not a creationist.

Why do people take a newspaper article literally? Why do readers take your question literally? Obviously, it is natural to read something and interpret it literally unless there are compelling reasons NOT to interpret something literally.
I find little connection between your main question and what follows, so it is difficult to answer it other than replying with the obvious. (For example, why should I interpret your question literally? Perhaps you mean it sarcastically. Yes, I could assume that and then criticize anyone who happens to interpret your question literally.)
As to your "Are you a monkey?" paragraph, what is the information that is so "clearly layed out in front of them?"
As to "just stick to the question", which one? You've listed a series of questions and yet they are only vaguely related. Then you say "no essays" explaining the answers. Summary: you list a series of questions and then demand that respondents not explain the flaws in the questions or in evolution. Sounds to me like you really don't want answers. You just wanted a forum in which to state your opinion. That's fine, but let's not pretend that you really want to know the answers.

I think I've met some of these people who adhere to ignorance with a passion. Not necessarily the ones who don't believe in evolution, but the ones who refuse to believe in facts such as DNA, fossils or even the selective breeding that led to dog breeds.
They refuse to believe that we share nearly a quarter of our DNA with a daisy and more than half with your pets. We use less than 2% of our DNA because most of it just thought to be our genetic ancestory, left over from the animals we evolved from.
I'm very much a christian, but I don't deny these facts either.

And yet another who does not know the definition of "Scientific theory", which is supported by facts, not guesses.
This has gone beyond silly. To the poster who says it's just a theory, or the poster who blathers about chance: Go ask these questions in the biology section if you really want your head handed to you in a polite, scientific manner. They will patiently explain every fallacy you cling to, and refute them.

This is a question that should be asked to creationists, after all we are the only ones that can answer it.
Yet it seems that you are only asking in order to get confirmation to your own belief.
I would not go and ask a dog what a cat thinks, or ask a cat what a mouse thinks.

So many just will not consider that they are an animal. They can't be related to a dog or pig or any of them.
The word is ignorance

I remember doing this because I wanted people to see how ridiculous they were and try to convince them of creation in Genesis. Ah I know; but that was why. And no I do not know alot about evolution even now.
