These 144,000 are not literal physical virgins. They are spiritually pure. Being the bride of Christ they have not committed spiritual adultery as implicated in James 4:4-8. Babylon the Great, (Revelation 18:1-4) as “the mother of the harlots,” would logically make every attempt to seduce the “bride” of Christ to become unfaithful to her promised husband (2Corinthians 11:2, 3; Ephesians 5:25-27)
