Yes, there is absolutely a relationship between love and war. This is a great topic.
No matter where you are born, it's normal to be taught to love your country and take pride in who you are. With the natural spread of nations and the differences between people, whenever someone's culture and way of life is threatened, they declare wars and fight in the name of love for their own people (in a sense).
Wars between nations and alliances between them before and after their wars is similar to love and war in relationships. Nobody truly wants war, but war is inevitable, and so is love.

'All is fair in love and war' is the expression.
Your idea is interesting... sounds like a theme for a novel by Rushdie.
You know like in 'Midnight's Children' all the kids who were born close to the hour that Pakistan and India split have a special connection and go to war with each other.

To be more exact all is UNFAIR in love and war.
And that is what they have in common, although I must say in my experiences, some time love IS war. Strange but true.

According to me if there is love there is no war, if there is war there is no love.

Um.. that's pretty irrational, considering that wars always mean the rape and abuse of countless women, which pretty much rules out romantic love...?
