IgM anti-HAV. IgM antibodies usually appear in the acute phase of an infection. Virtually all patients with acute hepatitis A have detectable IgM anti-HAV. IgM anti-HAV generally disappears within 6 months after onset of symptoms.

IgG anti-HAV appears in the convalescent phase of infection, remains for the lifetime of the person, and confers enduring protection against disease. So, if your IgG anti-HAV is positive, you have had the disease and are now immune to it.

In your case, the presence of total anti-HAV and absence of IgM anti-HAV indicates immunity consistent with either past infection or vaccination.

Hepatitis A does not cause a chronic infection. Hope this helps!

This pattern of results indicates either past infection with hepatitis A or past immunization with the hepatitis A vaccine. It does not indicate that you have hepatitis A currently.

Hepatitis A isn't curable by doctors... however, in almost all cases, the body eliminates the virus on its own. The doctor's role is simply to keep the patient comfortable while the body does the work (and then to take credit for the cure afterwards!).
