A 30/30 Winchester lever action rifle or a browning 30/30 lever action rifle? Someone stole all my dads rifles and pistal. I want to replace at least one he had. Please help with this and email or a site or even a phone # would help out a lot.
Thank You,
poppy1

If you want a new one, just go to your local gun store and ask what they can do for you. Often your local gun store will be able to meet or beat any price that you can get on a mail order gun. You have to realize that when you mail order a gun, it HAS to be shipped to a person who has a Federal Firearms License. That is usually a local gun store owner or gunsmith. You have to pay for shipping and insurance plus the FFL holder will charge you for doing the required paperwork. All of these expenses have to be added to the mail order price of the gun. Many gun stores carry used guns so if you are looking for a used gun, that is also a good place to start. If you have a friend who is knowlegable about guns, ask them to go with you to look at the gun and be sure that it is in good shape. Most gun store owners are honest and will not sell you a bad gun but there are a rare few who cannot be trusted and they make it bad for the rest of the store owners. Some people may tell you to go to a pawn shop because you may find a great deal there. Let me tell you about that, they have books that tell them what they can get for the gun and they will charge as much as a regular gun store for the gun plus they are usually not knowlegable about guns so they could accidently (or on purpose) sell you a gun that needs work or has something wrong with it.

Stick with a gun store not only because they know guns and can be a great help in selecting the right gun but after you have bought the gun, they are there to help you with any problems and to answer questions.

This time of year, a lot of hunters will be trading in guns, usually getting something else for whatever reason. I just learned this when I was looking for a 30/30 about a month ago. I know the owner of the local gun store and while talking with him about a month ago about getting a Marlin 30/30 lever action, he told to stop by about a month later and he would have a bunch of used ones. I stopped by on Saturday the 20th and he had 4 to choose from.

If you have a gun store in your city or close by, visit one that has used guns, I would be suprised if they didn't have a winchester 30/30 in there.

Try gun shows in your area, pawns shops and gun stores. The 1894 Winchester is going to be easier to find than the Browning. However, since Winchester closed down prices have been going up.

Good luck.

Sorry about someone stealing your dad's collection of rifles n pistols. I hope they are apprehended.

Try your local pawn shops and gun shops that sell used guns. Winchester no longer makes lever action rifles, so that is the only place to find them.

Hi Poppy, Look in the yellow pages for hunting or gun repair type stores. You might find one locally. If you buy from a pawn shop ,take a person with good gun knowledge with you to check it out.
You didn't memtion your knowledge of fire arms.
Good Luck
Jim
