I don't have cable or sattelite cause I just want to be able to watch my local channels but the antenna I have is fuzzy and sometimes hard to get channels in.

I don't want to spend a whole lot of money, cause within a year I should have cable or something.

I would suggest a trip to your local Radio Shack to look over TV antennas in stock. While you are there ask about the digital conversion and what antenna will work best with the converter box you will need after 2008, when analog television goes the way of the buffalo nickel and the hoop skirt.

Your television won't work without the converter box. I have no idea what the antenna requirements will be, but Radio Shack will either know or be able to refer you to someone who does know.

Generally, a high antenna, using coaxial cable rather than twin-lead will give you decent reception. You will need a fairly tall mast to get good height. This should allow you to watch your local channels until analog TV goes bye-bye.

There's no easy answer to this, as it is going to vary considerably according to where you live. The type of antenna you need will depend on such factors as how far away you are from the transmitters, the specific channel frequencies broadcasting in your area, and your local geography (such as any hills or tall buildings obstructing the signal).

If you look at your neighbours' antennas, you will probably notice that one particular type is more common than the others. This may give you a clue as to what you need.

However, the best bet is to consult the services of a professional antenna installer. They will be able to check your existing installation and determine whether it was adequate originally, and if so, whether a repair is feasible. If it isn't, they will be able to recommend a system that will provide you with the optimum quality of reception possible in your area.

If you THINK the antenna is worn out, replace it with a tunable tabletop antenna, it's the one with the knob on it to select/match the antenna to the channel you want to recieve....

Then go to Radio Shack and get one of the 20db RF amplifiers and improve your signal even more....

Unfortunately you would have to install a roof mounted antenna for the BEST reception and I would suggest an 8 Bay BOWTIE antenna....

Use this for best antenna match....
