If this was the case muslim would have killed all the nonmuslims when the conquerd spain, persia,
sind{india} , italy and souther part of russia. IF u read the whoe verse which is like this:And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter.And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they firstattack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such isthe reward of disbelievers." you'll know that it is the verse which tells how to deal with pagans who killed and persecuted muslims when they were a small group of people. who drove the muslims out of their homes. who used to burry baby girls alive. who inspite of seeing miracled denyed Allah and his messenger, even knowing that Muhamad (SAW) is the true messenger. they were actually hypocrates lost in total darkness. Same was the cause when prophet Musa(Mosses) PBUH started to preach the religion and the same thing was repeated with Prophet Issa (Jesus Christ) . IN islam killing of one innocent life is like killing whole humanity and saving Ones life is saving whole humanity. So what i mean to say is that islam is the religion of peace. And it does not say to kill the nonmuslims until they kill.

Islam does not permit the killing of any innocent person, whether Muslim or not. If you are ambushed or attack you may protect yourself. People are narrow minded and brainwashed with media and what other people say. To find the correct answer to your question you must as a Muslim. also don't believe any answer without quotations from the Qur'an ONLY. The real Qur'an not the made up ones published online. Must be from hard copy. right wing will always say that kind of stuff, they hate us after all. The see one persons mistake as blame it on the whole. Which is wrong.

Deuteronomy 17:2-5 - "If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the LORD gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God in violation of his covenant, and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars of the sky, and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death."

If Islam teaches killing of all non-Muslims, apparently so does Christianity to all non-Christians....guess that'll give you something to think about...

If you think Islam is the only religon with a horrible, violent manifesto behind it, you need to do some more reading....

And besides, how many modern Christians would will non-Christians? Same thing applies to modern Muslims (ie the 800 million not living in the Middle-East)

I would like to first state that I am not a Muslim , Recently , I have started reading a little about different religions . And I dont think Islam teaches killing Non Muslims. Its a beautiful religion . Infact Islam MEANS "Peaceful Submission"

These are just a couple of examples .... I think Islam is beautiful and peaceful religion. I think all religions are beautiful and teach us so much . Its just us who have not learned to pickup and admire these pearls. May we all learn to pick up the pearls of wisdom spread in various religions ... may we all get strength to be more accepting of our fellow human beings

No dear brother Ricky.Islam does not teach its followers to kill all non muslims.You cut off only one verse.Please read one verse before2:191 In verse 2:190 God spoke that please attack in the way of Allah the people who attacked you but you do not do beyond the limit.Allah hates people who do beyond the limit.Let us see the fact in reality all mus;lims can live in peace with other religion followers even with atheists..Muslims are instructed by Allah to be defensive and not offensive

You cut off a verse so you will read it as different meaning. In Islam, the popular rule was called Qishas, meaning eyes for an eyes. You killed then you'd be killed.

Don't you ever think that there will be no other religion if Islam did as you wrote above when Islam was ruling the world.

The tolerant in Islam is very high, tell to Muslim if you get mock from them, Your religion is yours, My religion is mine (La kum dinukum wal ya dien), they will stop to bother you right away ... :)

Sometimes. Osama Bin Laden sure taught it that way.

Still, many Muslims advocate peace. Just Islam is too broad - these things depend on the individual.
