I don't, personally, but being an atheist doesn't automatically disqualify you from being spiritual. All atheism is is a lack of belief in a higher power. Buddhist atheists are spiritual, for example.

Hi. As you say, as an atheist, I don't believe in gods, or their respective demons. Spiritual beings is a slightly vaguer term, and is something I can see the possibility of.

For example, I'm prepared to believe that everything we know at this point through scientific research is not everything that's knowable through science. I'm also prepared to believe the universe may well be far stranger than we currently know it to be. There may be creatures composed entirely of energy, rather than of energy and matter, and these, I suppose, could be termed "spiritual beings". I'm also not entirely ready to dismiss the idea of the continuation of coherent energy - the "spirit" if you like - after the death of the material body, so there may be more than we are aware of. So in that respect, I try to stay open-minded about the universe. Technically of course, that open-mindedness should extend to the idea of gods and demons, but all I can say is that if the universe is broad enough and wonderful enough to include all kinds of creature, then we don't need to make "gods" or "demons" out of any of them, and so I don't "believe" in them in any mystical sense.

I became an atheist, after many years as a christian minister, because I picked up the bible, and read it not as the word of god, but as a novel. And I realized that the story line didn't make sense. Once that happened, I quickly realized that other ' holy ' books were quite similar in nature to the bible. None of them made sense. So I studied science. But, I was not quite an atheist yet, until one day I read a book called "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. At that point, I became an atheist, and that would include not believing in demons, or pixies or any other mythological characters.

Personally I do not believe in any supernatural entity. But Atheism has nothing to do with demons or other forms of spiritual beings. Atheist only means a person doesn't believe in God.

Not this atheist.

And, plus, Satan = Lucifer, and since we don't believe in God then we also don't believe in Satan/Lucifer.

I believe that i have a soul, in a Buddhist sense, but other than that, i don't believe there are any spiritual beings out there.

Dear heart, an atheist does not believe gods exist. Satan, demons, angels, devils, and all that other nonsense, are products of the several gods, including the one created by murdering Bronze Age desert nomads which Christianity adopted in the First Century.

No, it's all smoke and mirrors "Hollywood" I have a skeptical belief and open mind in Extraterrestrial being's. I am a fan of the Coast to Coast radio programs which gives a logical and more open minded explanation to spirit beings like Shadow people or ghost, Satan, demon, alien sightings people experience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNSCob-_i3E

well since supernatural does not mean god there are all sorts of things atheist can choose to believe in. my one friend, an atheist (of a sort (believes in the universal mind)), believes in such supernatural beings whereas i am skeptical since i have had no proof of such beings other than ghosts. all things are based upon science so for me to believe in any supernatural being i must first see some proof or evidence.

I think we humans are spiritual beings, for example, metaphysically connected with one another, some more than others. These connections somehow draw like minded people together.

Have you ever met someone for the first time and sensed that connection immediately?

No. And for the same reasons that I do not believe in God--lack of supporting evidence!
