Oh shut up epidavros. Stop preaching, and mind your own business.

Alien_boy, you can be a non-denominational if you don't want to be in any other denominations.

Wish you luck.

I completely understand what you mean. I'm actually trying to make the same transition.

In my experience, I feel the one should not be concerned with denominations; organized religion and churches tend to be as corrupt and political as the government. Religion should be a personal journey and acceptance. Keep that in mind.

I do not understand why there are some many different variations of Chrisitianity. I guess people take it to a very specific level, far more specific that I feel possible (even then there are disagreements within denominations). Some Baptists this Catholics are going to hell and vice versa. We should accept religion broadly. Christians should have a greater sense of unity and not be divided into so many denominations.

Seriously, just make religion personal, you do not have to accept a denomination. You should not even go to church unless you actually get something from it. Too many people use it to showcase their religion, living contrary to what the supposedly believe. Good luck with it.

There are lots of Christians who are just Christian (no denomination). They simply follow Jesus and when they go to church, they don't join, they just go where they like. It is entirely possible to not be a member of any denomination. Just follow Jesus, He will be your rabbi, He will be your high priest. It's not the church or denomination that saves you; it's Jesus. It's good that you don't let the theologies of different denominations get in the way. But although you don't intend to join any church, please do be around other Christians (for encouragement, prayer, etc).

Yes, you can be a Christian and not belong to any church.

Keep following Jesus, and God bless you.

I was non-denominational. But as my beliefs evolved I chose a denomination. I am sort of an extinct breed, I am Biblical Unitarian. The closest man to being a Biblical Unitarian was William Ellery Channing but he was just a little bit liberal for my tastes.

Catholicism and Greek Orthodox did not evolve until hundreds of years after Christ, the Protestant church did not emerge until nearly a thousand years. To say that you MUST be one of those denominations is foolish.

Denominations are simply groups of people who agree to have the same set of beliefs.

With all the different "standards" as of late, chances are, you're part of a denomination and don't even realize it.

Perhaps "what's in a name, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" applies here. If not, I'll surely pay for my schismatic statement with several bone crushing "Thumbs downs"

God bless =)

Yes, there are non-denominational churches. They claim to be of no denomination, just Christian! There you go. Now just ask Jesus to come into your heart and forgive your sins and start living as his Word says. Find a good church. A good church with a good preacher or pastor is so important.
Please continue your Bible studies.......you will feel so much better, but it is better coming from a preacher, they can break it down for you and compare verses, etc.

with God all things are possible. the true church of Christ will not be a denomination, but the family of God. pray hard to find them and God will put you in the right pathway to meet them. only...will you recognize them when you see them? so many denominations, so many false churches, too many dang opinions that are not based on scripture, but on personal feelings...BLAH! in fact many on this feed are majorly off. pray to find people who are truly living the life that God had designed for us to live. like the word says. "ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you." they will be a people who will not want to be right "about" God above being right "with" Him. the Bible will be what determines there thinking and there doctrine. what there "opinion" should be. And their lives should be radically different from the standards of this world. Are they holy or not? do they sleep around or not? is there unity in the fellowship or not? are theyu hypocrites or not? "you can tell a tree by it's fruit". well anyway, you get the drift. i will pray for you to find the Kingdom of God.

Yes, you dont need to belong to any denomination or sect to become a Christian.

A Christian is simply a follower or adherent of the teachings of Christ.

This means you must seek to know His True teachings and consciously strive to live accordingly.

i was that way for 28 years. when it was time, i had a revelation that freed me from christianity altogether though i lived, and still live, closer to the actual teachings of the real jesus than any denomination will teach you.. if you compare what jesus taught to the way all churches conduct themselves, you will find they are in direct conflict.

i was a fundamentalist solely in that i tried to follow the bible to a tee.

even not eating pork because the bible forbids it.

not too many christians even acknowlege OT laws. frankly, they dismiss them saying that the OT isn't applicable because of jesus' "sacrifice." even though jesus said he did not come to change or destroy the law.

if you can find a church that actually practices what jesus taught and encourages it's members to live the way jesus did, join it. you will never find that church.

most christian families serve ham on easter. jesus was a JEW!

christians have no idea how to live a christ-like existence.
