your confuzzling. straighten up, get the crap off your keyboard, and find another way to ask this.

"im going to ask her out" is what you would say for a date as well as being bf/gf, despite what you think right now. its the way i grew up, and the way i think. its just used differently in different situations.

Well, times have changed if asking a girl out means wanting her to be your girlfriend. That is called going on a date and it takes at least a couple of dates and mutual agreement to get to the gf/bf stage. It also helps if, besides dates, there has been some socializing beyond the dates, like picnics, parks, museums, events.

I dont think it means to be a gf. I have always thought when someone asked me out it was out on a date and nothing else. If you are annoyed by it then dont use the term in that way and make sure whoever is your gf/date isnt confused as well.

I agree, If you ask someone out, your asking them out on a date. If you ask someone to be your GF or BF, then you are asking for a relationship commitment. When my husband asked me to be his girlfriend, we had just finished a kiss and he said " I like this." "I want to kiss you and know that I am the only one kissing you, is that alright?" TeeHee, it was sweet!
