I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Disc Prolapse so I take a muscle relaxant at night before I slip into bed. In the morning I feel a bit groggy but that wears off and the benefit of JUST have a few hours relaxed sleep lasts the day.

Muscle relaxers such as Flexeril and Skelaxin are used to relax a muscle that is tightened up for some reason or become inflamed by something coming into forceful contact with the muscle. The drugs mainly work by allowing the muscle to heal since it is in a relaxed state. The drugs are not just for overnight use and can be taken during the day. The only problem with taking them during the day is you will feel weak and tired (due to the relaxing effect of your muscles) so I would suggest you make sure you don't have anything important to do during the day you take them. Hope this helps, stay healthy.
