I'm the youngest of 4 & most of my life & most of the time I love it. I'm 45 now tho & still am sometimes treated like a child by my siblings & Mother. I have been an intensely independent single Mom for 17 years, so I resent this quite a bit & sometimes let it upset me a great deal, but their attitude towards me has kept me feeling young, not in a immature way, just like I'm still 15 years old (definitely not physically, just mentally) I've read alot of info re:birth order & related characteristics & my siblings & I and our birth order characteristics fit each of us to a T.! It is all very interesting & quite amazing. Are you doing research or just curious? I've always been very interested in this subject as well. I was very spoiled & constantly taken up for as a child, but not necessarily as an adult, just treated as tho I can't take care of myself sometimes, but I try to not let it bother me. While I was being taken up for & protected, "the middle child" , was bless her heart always blamed for everything that happened to me & we weren't very nice to her as kids. She's still very sensitive, but turned out to be a loving, caring human being. I've never really thought about which I would prefer just because I think being the youngest had made me who I am, but obviously would have liked to maybe have been the 2nd so I could have set a better example for the 2 youngest than my older sister did & maybe we all would have turned out differently & with better & more successful lives (as in marriages, going to college, making more money, not getting into as much trouble growing up in the 70's, hard as that was to do, we were the epitomy of late 60's, 70's generation kids.

My son is an only, which I've always felt bad for him not having the support & companionship (especially when younger) of any siblings, (he does however, have 22 cousins that he was close with growing up) & generally happy to go home & get away from them or have them leave when they were over. He says he loves being an only (he's 18 now & still feels that way)....once we saw a woman with 6-7 kids walking down the street, so I asked him what he would do if I had that many kids...his response at 5 years old was "I'd move out" :)ha!

We've always had a houseful of his friends & generally someone sleeps over on the weekends so he sorta gets that, but then has his own space when they leave. I was able spoil him rotten when he was little, but you'd never know it. Now I'm not in the position to, (i.e. college, car), but he's not spoiled now & doesn't whine about it at all! I'll be interested to read all your other answers, hope there are many.

I am the eldest, but wish i had been the youngest. My parests were so over the top strict with me in regards to school and friends and work and chores, where as the younger brothers got this all pretty easy.

Im the youngest but I wish I hadnt been.Because I had a huge family.I had 23 Aunts and uncles. They all passed away when I was still quite young so I really dont remember them much but when my older brother tells me stories about how they were I wish I couldve been a little older so I could have a better memory of them and had gotten to spend more time with them.

i'm the eldest of four and no i do no longer think of i'm the wisest, the two one among my youthful sisters are in college, one is reading company regulation and the different is reading psychology. I under no circumstances went on with greater coaching after intense college as i had infants, i assume I unquestionably have greater existence adventure and am wiser in that way...

I am the youngest in my family and I perfer it that way. After having three before me my parents were much more lenient towards me and I always had someone else to blame! I am still spoiled to this day.
