Dentist tell you up and down but I think that is hard to do unless you make a circle motion. I use a rechargeable toothbrush and it does a great job. The first one I bought was over $100, but when I tried to replace it I found a new-in-the- package one, same brand for $20. so I bought two.

My dentist said brush back and fourth damages the teeth at the base.

DO NOT GO BACK AND FORTH! This can cause gum recession and lots of sensitivity if the root becomes exposed. Start in the back of your mouth, aim your toothbrush toward your gum line and rotate your brush in small circles. You want to make sure you feel the bristles under your gum line, which is a favorite place for plaque to "hide". Brush the front and back of all teeth using small circles. Make sure to brush your tongue, cheeks and inside of your lips, also. Flossing daily helps keep your teeth and gums healthy, too.

Circles, brushing for 2 minutes. Include your gums, tongue and inner cheeks as well. Bacteria loves those areas as well. Make sure you floss morning and night as well.
