I work on fire trucks. It's more likely that an explosion involving the fuel tanks would be a bigger problem than the water pump that's run off the truck's main engine.
Depending on how the pump is run the parts could fly apart & cause damage but the pump is pushing water so a fire is not likely plus the location is not near the fuel tanks on the trucks I work on. Electrical problems could cause a fire but I doubt it would explode. Hope this helped.

A hose would rupture before any of the heavy, metal pump parts would.
Another likely scenario would be a pump's seizing up from lack of lubrication. Even then the pump would probably just grind to a halt.
You have to realize that a fire engine is probably one of the most well maintained machines in the world.

No, the trucks were designed to with stand a lot of water pressure, but they don't always use the truck for there water source
