Or he can get up, leave and go home to be with his wife. Gavin turns his back to light a cigarette while the client quietly gets up and walks out of the office. Gavin smiles, calls his own wife, tells her he'll be home soon, and that he loves her, then hangs up, looking out the window.

It's more of an ethics violation on the part of the attorney.

He is suggesting through the story and his final statement that the prospective client just kill his wife rather than go through what the Roses did.
