Puffy eyes, sore neck and back, headache: then go back out the next night and sleep in the tent again. I remember those days of air mattresses when we went camping!

Normally a tent is damp from the morning dew, which is something your not use to sleeping at home in a bed...plus if there is a campfire envolved the previous night the smoke may have affected your eyes..

Sometimes when you sleep outside in a tent, you are exposed to pollens that you are protected from normally when you are slumbering in your bed. Some of those pollens can cause your eyes to swell slightly. It's not going to kill you, but it can be an irritant to pollens that you are not used to being exposed to.

Also, your sleep patterns themselves differ when you are outside as opposed to being indoors.

well, if you were sleeping in a tent you were probably outside.. in this season its windier and you might have mild allergies. when i go camping and sleep in a tent i get less sleep because i'm so uncomfortable and its anew place, so it might have to do with loss of sleep. i experienced the same thing.

How many hours did you sleep? Allergies can cause a "shine" under the eyes that mimics sleep deprived bags. You probably didn't sleep good and your brain didnt go into REM, therefore you didn't get as much sleep that you needed.

Does that really happen? My guess would be a lot of humidity trapped in a very small tent.

I would say you have allergies...probably to the outdoors...pollen, ragweed, etc...or maybe even to the canvas or material the tent is made of.
