No mp3 players, no books, and don't let the judge or bailiff catch you with your PDA or blackberry out, either.
You may bring a pad of paper to take notes on.

Jurors are not allowed to listen to MP3 player during the deliberations of the case.

You will need to check with the court clerk.

generally, you will not be allowed to take any cell phone or other electronic devices with you into the jury room (if you are selected as a juror). You will not be allowed to take any notes unless the judge allows it and, if he does, the court will provide the paper for you.

if you bring the items, the bailiff will have to keep them for you.

If this was your liberty at stake, would you want some juror doing what you're planning on doing and just agreeing with everyone else when it came down to making a decision?

Didnt think so!!

Call your court and ask. Judging from some of the other answers different courts have different rules. I've been on jury duty in my home county and we were allowed to bring electronic devices with us, but we had to turn them off in the court room, grand jury room and during deliberation.

No.. you cannot listen to it. Some court rooms ban taking notes and some allow it.Some forbid newspapers or television to do with the upcoming trial. The Judge in all court cases specifically defines what can and cannot be done. Main objective is to adhere to all rules and take this position seriously, some ones life, career or finances can be at stake.

Perhaps a book to read (while you are waiting) but that would be about it and that is stretching it.
If you are a juror, then your full attention should be on the case(s) being presented.
Respectfully....I wouldn't bring anything.

How incredibly selfish and irresponsible can a person be? Some one is in court facing jail or losing money or loss of their child and you are too important to be bothered or pay attention.

I'd bet you are the first person to whine and cry if some one doesn't give you service befitting a queen.

Why don't you try paying attention and doing your civic duty. Pay attention and give both sides in the case the chance at being fairly treated.

Your selfishness simply astounds me. I bet you are the type to witness a car accident, stop and take picture with your cell phone and then rush home to be the first one to post the accident on U-tube. Just leave the people laying in the street, hey I need to update U-tube.

What a slob.

PROSPECTIVE JUROR?

AT WHAT POINT ARE WE TALKING. A PROSPECTIVE JUROR?

ONE WHO IS SEQUESTERED IN A ROOM OF OTHERS AWAITING TO BE PICKED TO GO TO A COURT ROOM ?
YOU CAN PLAY CARDS, LISTEN TO TV RADIO ETC.

OR ONE WHO IS CARRIED TO THE COURT ROOM AND PLACED IN THAT COURT ROOM ? ONCE IN THAT COURT ROOM ALL RADIOS, CELL PHONES ETC ARE TO BE TURNED OFF.

BOTH ATTORNEYS WILL NEED YOUR UNDIVIDED ATTENTION TO ASCERTAIN IF YOU FIRST MEET THE REQUIREMENTS TO BE SELECTED TO BE A JUROR.

You can't take it because you won't even get past the metal detectors, they will take it for the day and you won't be allowed to get it back until the end of the business day.
