Dont you think the Bible portrays humans as little evil worms. Unworthy of Gods love? Evil by design, and in need of repetence.

What a distorted view of human nature.

read the bible
1Peter 3:15-22
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
through whom[a] also he went and preached to the spirits in prison
who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

On the contrary, the very first book of the bible portrays man as God's creature created in His 'image and likeness.' Yes, man is a sinner lost in his rebellious attitude towards God. But the bible also said that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ...that while we were yet sinners, that same Christ died for us.

From Genesis to Revelations there is only one purpose God continuously pursue - to save man from sin and bring him back into His kingdom - whatever it takes.

Many people think they are going to heaven because they are good. However, Jesus himself refers in Matthew 19:17 that God is the only one good. In Romans 3:23 (MKJV) it says:
"for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"

One may say that they are sincere, and that God will accept them because they are sincere. Was Hitler sincere? I think he was (but it didn't save him-if he was saved at all). You see, our understanding of right and wrong may be different from each other. Is God's standard going to change from one person to the next, because of sincerity? Let me quote Proverbs 14:12 (MKJV):

"There is a way which seems right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death."

We must remember, that down in the center of our self we are not good and that our standard of goodness isn't the same as the guy next door, let alone God. We all must turn away from the idea of pleasing God by doing traditions or rituals of men. However, some of these things can be God's will, but they alone don't get you salvation, nor mixed with anything other than God's way. I'll quote Jesus in Mark 7:13: (NKJV)

13 making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do."

So despite how a person conducts his life, whether he is cruel and evil or nice and caring, this has no effect upon that eternal spirit of a person that is forever dead and separated from God. Just as if a baby gets killed in the street, no matter what you do, you can't make the baby alive. No matter how much love, no matter how much caring. That baby will be separated from it's father by death and no action can restore it. But thank God for God, He made a way, where man can not.

That way is

JESUS

we are all sinners, because nobody is perfect. the Bible doesn't relate us as a worm. Where did you get that from. The only worm talked about the the Bible is the worm that dieths not that eats at your flesh continually in hell. We are all sinners unless you can tell me someone who can go a complete day without one inpure thought, one cuse word slipped, nor one arguement. =] Jesus loves you. and we were made imperfect as the result of the devil tempting us. but we will be with God one day in the most perfect place, you just gotta believe.

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Yes, we are all sinners. The only one that ever came to earth and lived the perfect life, died on a cross at Calvary, and His name was Jesus!! People created evil and suffering for our world not God. By disobeying God's one law, Adam and Eve made it so. Jesus is the last covenant made by God. God sent his only begotten Son to die for all of us, so that we could seek forgiveness and purity through Jesus Christ so that when we die we can go to heaven and be with our Lord again!! Surely this is the ultimate LOVE!! We were made in God's image and we were not meant to be what we have become. We have dug our own graves in this world. Fortunately,Jesus is here to save us!! All you have to do is accept Him into your heart and live by his teachings that are written in the New Testament! Quite letting earthly things and Satan come between you and your relationship with God and Jesus, because this world is dying and if your adhere to earthly ways you will perish with it!

Your language is loaded terminology,by any standard. Most "Christians" - that umbrella term - are Catholics, and although the Church has alaways taught that human nature tends to disobedience,it does not argue that humans are fundamentally evil. For most, the points of disobedience to God's will are relatively minor. I believe you are using the term Christian as synonymous with fundies, who are actually about 5% of all professed Christians, albeit a loud and noisy lot. Why atheists cannot grasp that they are a fringe element I cannot say. Perhaps you could enlighten us.

It is what God says that matters not me-

ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD- Romans 3:23.
THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD. Romans 6:23.

You are right we are unworthy of God's love- however, He loves us so much that He sent His son into the world, not to condemn the world but to save it. Yes, we are in need of repentance- however Christ paid the price that we could never pay- so that we could have eternal life, and a personal relationship with us.

Yes, it's true that we are unworthy of God's love, but i disagree about the fact that we are evil by design!..God didn't make us evil it all happened when adam and eve fell into temptation from the devil. But what makes God so great is that he loves us and sent Jesus to die so we don't have to pay the price to go to heaven it is all there for us as long as we repent and say that we do sin and we know that jesus died for us!

No. I don't think the Bible portrays people like that at all. The Bible portrays people as humans who love, who are capable of great things and horrible things.

That's a bit of a one sided comment/question don't you think?

The bible portrays man as both evil and beautiful. What about love, peace, patients, kindness?
