I cannot find, even a single eye witness, press account, in all the world (then or today) of any Vietnam Vet, ever being physically spit on. Vietnam Vets would have reported the spiting incidents to the police if they were real.

There is an eyewitness (press) account of Vietnam Vet, spitting on the war protester Jane Fonda. They were arrested because spitting on someone has always been a crime.

For not reporting even one of the "spitting incidents” to police, or to the press, Yahoo Vietnam Vets are obviously lying, but why are they lying? Why do Yahoo Vietnam Vets want the world to believe that they were spit on when they never reported it?

My yahoo question and answers show no less than two Vets claiming that they were physically spit on.

CFB is a classic case of what I’m talking about.

Look at all the tools on this thread claiming to have been spit on, and not one case was reported to the police or to the press ever.

Can’t post even a single press story of a Vet being spit on because it never happened.

Hysterical - CFB even said “it itches to be spit on.”

genghis1947 wants me to believe that “he first had urine and feces thrown at him and then it went to spitting.”

Why some of you Vets spread the spit lie is a mystery. You must be delusional from telling so many other war stories (about someone else) that you wish it happened.

…I’m proud that my family has the staunchest history of being in the U.S. military, and wearing the Uniform. And especially that no American has ever spit on anyone of them.

When I came back from VN in 1968 no one said boo. I was appalled how no one cared what was going on in VN - as long as they didn't have a family member or friend there. They cared even less about the Vietnamese.

Same as in Iraq now, except even fewer families are being affected today, so essentially no one cares - like I said back then, I will say it now to those that could care less - sc*ew you!

You will probably find that most Vietnam vets don't read Y/A, why you even bother to contradict what has been recorded on film and newsreels of the day is beyond me, as for the reverse spin a Vietnam vet spat at a reporter it could have happened.

But, Obviously you are not looking n the correct Press archives.

What was the point of reporting a spitting incident to the Police, they had better things for doing, no chance back then of linking the spittle to a particular human as their was no DNA testing!!

I seriously doubt that spitting on an American traitor like Jane Fonda is a crime, the only reason she didn't dance at the end of a rope was because of her father's (Henry Fonda) money & connections.

The spitting of Jane Fonda happened comparatively recently, compared to the spitting of returned servicemen which happened... surprise surprise, decades ago.

Now maybe if some of those Vietnam veterans were celebrities of some sort or were spat on last night, we'd hear about it. The media is never equal.

Whatever. I can see you're not here to get questions answered, and no answer no matter how educated would be worthy of "Best Answer" unless it agreed with your question. Come back when you've got something genuine to ask.

The description of yourself in your profile is ironic: " Telling someone what they want to hear is not right.". That's funny, because you know exactly what kind of answer you want to read - "Yes, I agree. Veterans weren't spit on, blah blah blah, Jane Fonda is an old lady, yadda yadda yadda."

So how can we believe your story if you don't cite any sources? Were you there when EVERYONE that served in Vietnam returned home? Were you with them at all times when they were in the grocery store or just in the civilian world period? No, because it's impossible for one person to be in so many places at one time. Don't rant unless you have sources, reliable ones.

BTW: The media never shows everything, and if you think they do then you are ignorant. They can turn a blind eye to anything that makes our military look good during a time of an unpopular war.

EDIT: CFB never said "it itches to be spit on" now did he? He said he has something for you and Jane Fonda that itches only for a bit, then its all over. Perhaps if you could COMPREHEND what you read it would help you. Clearly our education system has failed you poor child.

When I went into the Air Force the Viet Nam war was in full swing. We had orders that said if we flew on civilian aircraft we had to do it in our Class A uniforms. I had just finished Officer's Candidate School and was on my way to pilot training. I had no training in any field just the gold bar on my shoulder. I had to go through San Fransisco Airport on my way to pilot training. There I was spit upon more times then I care to remember. I was called a baby killer and worse, mostly with curses that would make a sailor blush. Like I said, I had no training and had not left the country as yet. What I did do is stand up tall, kept my head straight ahead and marched directly to my airplane. Why didn't cry to the media or the police? I was better than the protestors. They didn't need any more publicity.

Has for Hanoi Jane. My best friend Pete was in a B52 that was shot down over North Viet Nam. Pete was captured and taken to the Hanoi Hilton. There he was tortured and starved. Then Hanoi Jane arrived at the Hilton. The POWs were allowed to bathe, shave, and get clean clothes for the first time since they arrived in the prision. Under extremely dangerous conditions one of the men gave her a list of all the prisioners that were there. The prisoners thought she would take the list home to the states so that people would know who was alive. She smiled, turned around and gave it to the North Vietnamize Colonel who was leading the tour. As soon as she left the torture returned in full force. Pete does not have full use of his shoulder, which was fine when he ejected. I won't vote for McCain, but he is a hero in my eyes. Why don't you ask him what it was like?

So without a single qualified source. What the hell is (i.e., press)? You dare to call me and my fellow brothers in arms liars. We fought so that you would still have the right to make unqualified statements about things you know nothing about. Over 50,000 good men and women died for that. Don't call me or them a liar. Do not ever say Hanoi Jane and Viet Nam Veterans in one breathe again. This is the single worst question I have ever seen on Y/A.

Edit: I wish there was a way to give you a thumbs down, instead of you giving us ****.

Well, as someone who was attacked in a variety of ways, despite not ever having even been in Vietnam (It was over before I could be sent there) -- just ROTC -- I can tell that you have no flippin' idea of what you are talking about.

During my ROTC days, I was spit upon, had rocks thrown at me, and fake blood and red paint splashed on my uniform. And the cops in the area just looked the other way.

What was even more disturbing was that these attacks were by kids that, when I was not wearing my uniform, worked side-by-side with me in the lab or in class without any problems at all.

So don't try to spread your disinformation here, little commie. It won't fly.

How about a more recent incident then. One of my good friends got spit on and called a baby killer in O' Hare airport. I know several people in different branches who have been treated like crap in the last few years in airports. It is never the staff it is always some smelly hippy. You and people like you just can't accept the truth.

As someone who first hand had urine and feces thrown at them, I thank others for their response. Being spat on came later by anti war protest mobs in Washington DC. It can be patriotic to be against a war, even war in general. What is wrong is being against those who put their lives at risk for freedom, country and your right to speak out.

As for Hanoi Jane, she really exceed tolerable limits. She went to the enemy to give comfort and support, and that is plain treason. You also missed the films of Jane teasing the American POW in a tiger cage with a stick and telling he deserved even worse. Later, she tried to explain things away that she was young. She was 28! And the POW in the tiger cage 20. In viet Nam, the soldiers were the youngest except for possibly, the Civil War. I do quite a bit of target shooting. Though Osama bin Ladin is my favorite, I also use her picture.

Added note: You may notice I spell Ladin instead of Ladin. Well, that was the spelling on his family website. I turned the website in to the Whitehouse and CIA shortly after 9/11. It was gone the next day. I like to think I helped my country. But more likely the result was government or someone else. I am opposed to war, but do what little I can for my country and community. Little as it is.

They are not lying. At that point in time unless it was caught by the police it never happened. My grandfather has a picture of his buddy getting spat upon by some students that protested the war.
When i asked him why he kept it he said because it reminds him that even though he was told to do something by his boss he still got heat for it. He also said that they didn't report it be cause they were so tired they just wanted to go home to their families.
