I feed raw.. I worm about every 6 months with a holistic wormer. I do not worry about the raw food causing worms, but the fact that my dogs will catch, kill and eat rodents as well as the fact they are exposed to other dog's waste at dogshows.
ilove2rofl.. I cannot imagine poisoning my dog on a monthly basis!

If you are concerned about the bacterial content of raw meat, remember that you are feeding canines, not human beings. The dog has a very short very acidic digestive tract. We tend to think of all bacteria as being detrimental to a dog health. Bacteria and certain forms of e-coli are part of the natural floral of the dogs digestive system as they are of a human's.
This came from a booklet that I was given at an AKC meeting that promotes the BARF (Bones And Raw Food) diet. My dog has been on it for years.

I agree with what everyone else said...but no one defended just how YUMMY raw cookie dough is! I eat it now and then, but when I get a stomach ache it keeps me from eating it until I've forgotten how bad my tummy hurt. Try eating cooked cookies. It's still unhealthy, but not AS unhealthy. (But also not as yummy. Oh, well.) Or convert entirely to spinach, grape tomatoes, walnuts and shredded cheese when you're in a snacking mood. No raw eggs in that!

I give my dogs at least one piece of raw chicken (thigh) at least once a week.. They love it. If the chicken is cooked the bones have to be removed becasue they become britte when cooked. Raw, chicken bones are pliable and don't splinter. The rest of the time they get prepared dogcfood, with a balance of meat, fruits and veggies and supplements with rice and oats.
Be sure the raw meat is fresh and not old and you should not have a problem....except pork....not a good idea.

It doesn't cause worms. But it is a lot of work.
All dogs should be wormed once a month anyway. Heartguard is a common product from your vet that prevents heartworms and kills intestinal worms (stomach). You give it once a month.
