Ok, if thre was this girl that liked you, but never really talked to you in person and you never really felt anything for her. Then she suddenly stopped calling you and then when people would ask if she liked you, she would say no, and started talking to you in a really friendly way and never mentioned any likeness again. would you eventually start to see her in a different way and maybe start to like her?

If I started to have good friendly conversations with her, in which we discovered we had a lot in common, then I might very well start to "like" her in the sense of wanting to date her. (speaking hypothetically as if I were still single, that is!)
Everything else you mention, like talking on the phone and then not talking on the phone, or what she says to her friends about what she thinks of me, would be irrelevant.

no. dont EVER stop talking to a guy you like. it WILL ruin your chances. that hard to get crap is SO dumb. dont ignore him. and when people ask, just say i dont know or something
