i did once...it wasn't good. i'm wondering how many of you may have dealt with death being someone you didn't know.
i found a guy at work...he had been there a few hours...i still think of him...only been 3 months ago. unfortunately i had to feel for a pulse...there wasn't one.i still feel him on my hand. have you ever ?

Most people who have didn't know the person that they were pronouncing dead. Also, they've generally done it a lot of times. Both of these make it MUCH easier.

Sounds like you knew the person AND it was your first time facing this sort of thing - both of these make your experience much worse than that of the average person who pronounces people dead as part of their job.

The reactions that you're describing strike me as perfectly appropriate given the circumstances. Nonetheless, if you find the thoughts and recollections intrusive or if they're interfering with your life (especially if you can't sleep!) or if you're sad about this, you should consider visiting a counselor. Usually some short-term support is all that's need to put this sort of thing in the proper context and then get on with life.

You are obviously traumatized. Talk to someone. You might need help in dealing iwth PTSD. "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder"

maybe if i had to i would but i think i wouldnt have the guts to do it
