We as human beings have no right to say who God is saving and who is not saved. He wants all of us to come to Him. It is my feelings that anyone who can not understand to accept Jesus, those who have never heard of Him and those who are too young to understand, are saved by God's grace because of what Jesus did for them. The only people that I believe God will not save are those who definitely express that they don't want salvation.
As for your friend who committed suicide, only God knows his heart. It would be so wrong for another human to say that he is not saved. I hope that he is.

Although I'm studying to be a Christian minister, and don't yet have all the answers(as if anyone could), I think the proper answer to the first question is no, he was honoring God the best way he knew, not rejecting Him, so he is saved." All who call on my name are saved " As for the suicide, his heart will answer that before the Almighty. Was he saved, or care deeply about God? Life is a precious gift, but shortening it for such reasons, such as euthanasia, will have to be left for Him to decide.

For the first scenario, unfortunately this person would still go to hell. Here is the Bible verse for that:
Romans 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
In other words, there is evidence of God all throughout nature. He has and does reveal Himself to those who will truly seek after Him and the truth - even if they have never heard the name Jesus. He has the ability to reveal Himself in visions and dreams to those people.
Is it fair that those people go to hell? I don't know. But, I do know that God is just - which doesn't always line up with what we think is fair. He set up a standard of holiness which no one can meet. That is why He sent His Son, Jesus, to the earth to live a sinless life as a man and then pay our penalty for sin for us. In order to get to heaven you must:
1. Admit that you have sinned against God - you have done things your way instead of His
2. Believe that God loved you so much that He sent Jesus to die for your sins and that He rose from the dead
3. Confess to the world without shame that Jesus is the Lord - the ruler - of your life
That is the only way to heaven. If a person does not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, they will go to hell. Not because God sends them there, but because they did not receive the free gift of salvation - pardon from their sins through Jesus Christ - that God has graciously provided.
As for the second scenario, I cannot see any strong Biblical evidence that suggests a believer committing suicide will go to hell. But again, the person must be a believer.

In situation 1.
If a person does not know the gospel of Christ, then why should he be judged for his actions when he didn't know what he was doing? He will be taught the gospel in the after life, he can accept or deny it, if he accepts it, he will be saved.
In situation 2.
I'm not sure about this one. I'm sure every church has a different opinion on it. But I think if they feel real remorse for their actions in the afterlife, God will take mercy on them and save them....but that's just my personal opinion.
So no...they will not.

a lot of those tribes in Africa are turning to God via the tens of millions. There are an predicted 450 million Christians in sub-Saharan Africa. you spot, God is saving a lot of those undesirable ignorant those that those interior the West profess to have such undertaking for; and he's leaving people who've heard the Gospel so in many circumstances and hardened their hearts against it to flow stumbling off to hell. " In that comparable hour he had fun interior the Holy Spirit and suggested, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, which you have hidden those issues from the sensible and awareness and printed them to sons and daughters; confident, Father, for such become your gracious will. All issues have been surpassed over to me via my Father, and no one is typical with who the Son is different than the father, or who the father is different than the Son and everyone to whom the Son chooses to bare him.” Luke 10:21-22 take care lest this contain you.

You know, one thing about God is that he truly knows the hearts of people.
He also knows "the whys" of what leads a person to do one thing or another.
I don't think it's pleasing to the Lord to kill yourself, but he is merciful to those who are driven to do things, and God is just.
He is not "like people" who only judge on the basis of the outward appearance.

For both situations I can state that God knows the heart and it is the heart that is judged at the end of life.
As to your friend, I think one of the cruelest things the church has ever done is to say that people who commit suicide go to hell, that is utter nonsense. God knows their pain, He knows their mental state, He's not going to judge them with the same standard He would me or perhaps you.

One of Martin Luther's arguments with the Catholic Church is that they assume suicides are a one way ticket to hell.
The truth is that no one knows what was in your friend's heart. That is what truly matters.
And don't let that church bug you...some people just don't want to listen to what even their elders think.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I believe there is a passage somewhere that says do not judge your brother, only our father (God I presume) can judge the hearts of man...or something like that.
The way I look at it is, according to scripture, killing yourself is a sin, not accepting christ is a non-ticket to heaven, but ultimately, it is God who makes judgement upon us not our nieghbors.
For me to make any judgement about anyones salvation is like stepping on Gods toes. I don't like it when people judge others it's just dumb.

God saves all the children and all the people who has no knowledge or enough of knowledge about Him.
No, suicide does not lead you to hell. But we need to accept Jesus as our Lord and savior before we die, no matter which way.
