Rachel D,
At this point I'm neither a believer nor nonbeliever of the Christian religion. I'm just trying to seriously figure out what his true intentions and actions were in a modern way of looking at it. So far, in my opinion there's no logic in being a pacifist. I feel more secure with the "survival of the fittest" model to life because it doesn't go against nature.

I can definitely relate to what you're saying. The human sacrifice thing of Christianity reminds me of the King Kong movie where the natives sacrificed people's lives to their giant monkey god in order for there to be peace. Kind of sick, eh? Your answer is not bad for a nonmessianic one.

You have a point. Why would God need to use a type of kill tactic to get his point accrossed? For some sort of "Shock and Awe" or a guilt complex towards humanity? It just doesn't make sense.

That would depend on who you ask...
Many say that Jesus did lay down his life to save mankind's souls from The Pit. If this truly is the case, then I guess we all have some thanks to give to him for his sacrifice...
But...
The problem is that Jesus wasn't given his divinity until hundreds of years after his 'sacrifice', by the Catholic church. Not only that, there's proof enough to state that there wasn't anyone close enough to Jesus during the crucifixion to positively state it WAS Jesus on the cross, it could have been most anybody, including one of the apostles; I've read there were supposedly thirteen of them. If you disclude Judas for the betrayal, that would still leave twelve apostles, one of which could have martyred himself. Mary (who, uncovered documents state could very well have been Jesus's wife) may have been included in this number to make thirteen, if she was at the Last Supper. I'm sure there were times she traveled with Jesus, so this would make some sense.
But again, it would depend on who you ask. Any religion nut would exclaim "YES!!!" with every fiber of their being, but people like me, who have spent some time poking around and studying other sorts of religions (my list includes a few forms of Christianity, as well as Satanism) might tell you otherwise.
It's not my place to judge anyone else's beliefs, so I'll conclude by saying that it's anyone's guess as to whether the crucifixion was truly assisted suicide or enforced Roman/Judaic punishment. I'm really not exactly sure what kind of answer you want but, here's one to grind your thoughts against.
Try reading "Holy Blood, Holy Grail". It's a terribly fascinating book, one I couldn't put down for days and it sheds a lot of light into dusty and normally unadventured corners of the life of Jesus, The Templars and The Priorie Of Scion. The movie, "The DaVinci Code" also delves into the same ideas, although the story its-self is fictional; it's just based against actual events in history that we aren't taught in school.
One last little factoid before I go... Leonardo DaVinci himself, time has uncovered, was also found to be the head of The Priorie Of Scion, for a time. This is discussed in "Holy Blood, Holy Grail". You'd be surprised by what you can learn through that book. Happy reading.

human sacrifice is what proves christianity is the same old ancient false faith in a brand new bottle. The angry gods demanded an 18yr old virgin to be appeased, not a sick old man. The Supreme Sacrifice is ancient and that is what jc was. YHWH forgives those who repent. It is that simple. See Eze 18. We are again in violation of the first commandment just as those vomited out of the promised land. Will we ever learn? Christianity allows the seventh day to be OUR DAY instead of sanctified and it permits continued celebration of the ancient pagan celebrations. No wonder it is so popular. It is the "low price alternative."

Its difficult for me to understand. If he was God (or son of which appears to be same thing) why did he have to die. He could have changed all of you (stop sinning) with a sweep of his hand or a well placed lighting bolt.
He died because the Jews were given a choice and he was known to be a rabble rouser. After all, where does he get off overturning all of those money changing tables. And then pretending to be the king of the Jews. We know this has symbology of some kind so why do Catholic missionaries take money out of poor countries and send it to Rome?
Do you see what i'm sayin' -- stop believing in this.

Jesus knew what was going to happen was base on men hatred for the truth. He knew it was inevitable no matter what! If men was obedient to God's law, He wouldn't have to send his son to us.
Each day we also place ourselves in that same position. If you go into a bad neighbor, at night, it is same aspect of assisted suicide.
In reality it was not a type of assisted suicide because Christ rose from the gave in three days and ascended into heaven after several days on earth. We know that if someone commit suicide the person is not going to walk on earth again in three days. God bless

Very interesting question, the thought never occured to me, however, I do know that God has accepted people into heaven that have commited suicide. There are stories in the bible. Iguess suicide is only a sin if you do it for the wrong reasons, whatever they are I don't know, as a matter of fact I've never read that suicide is a sin. ;-)

Jesus did no longer get away while he grew to become into betrayed or sought after by making use of the government, by way of fact he had to fulfill his fee. He knew that he had to die as this grew to become into the only way for mankind to be redeemed and benefit life. His death grew to become right into a call for yet won't be able to be while in comparison with suicide or perhaps assisted suicide. Suicide is while a guy or woman takes his or her very own life. Assisted suicide is while a guy or woman agrees to taking the life of yet another at his or her request. the two events are in contract. Jesus did no longer take his very own life nor did he request that any one do it for him. The guards had no concept of the section that they performed in this prophecy. They have been following instructions given to them by making use of the courts. Neither of the persons in charge for Jesus' death have been in an contract with him or God to kill him. Jesus sacrificed his earthly life to ascertain that all people to have eternal life. the only events that knew what could ensue have been God, Jesus and his disciples and neither of them laid a hand on Jesus to kill him. the only events that knew why those activities have been to transpire have been God and Jesus. As a Christian, i'm professional-life, by way of fact God has taught us to fee our lives. God's son Jesus additionally valued his life - he valued his heavenly life. while Jesus sacrificed his life and allowed himself to be killed so as that each and every person people can benefit, he saved all of our lives. for greater tips or different serious questions, please e mail me.

It was a pre-destined death or release from the common/physical world.
Assisted Suicide? No, a fulfillment of scripture, faith, and destiny.
It was pre-destination, not pre-meditated. or "assisted". It is supported by scripture, in all Christ-based religions. protestant, Catholic, Greek Orthodox, etc.
It was never suicide. Christ did not kill himself.
He accepted that He was full filling His Holy Purpose on earth, for our benefit. let's face it, sheep and hens were not going to save Man-Kind.
Never Suicide. Never assisted, rather SUPPORTED in the transition between our world and the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus had a morbid desire for death - he wanted "glory" and he got it, someone devised the story that he rose up into the clouds on his way to heaven.
I believe there is no heaven no paradise and no hell.
