Today Jesus would pick three people to represent the point of his parable - not for spite, but for the lesson, if he even could use this parable in todays world.
Today because of this parable - people actually DO help other If they can. But if a woman at night stopped to help me I be mad she put herself into danger for her faith, and tell her to get to safety. The parable works then, not so much today.

I have never encountered a beaten man as described in the Bible. I will not sit here and tell you what I think I would do.

But, I have passed more than a few pan handlers with out a second thought. I believe they should go and find shelters for help (which we contribute). But, one time I was going to lunch with a friend and he invited a person in from the street to eat with us. It was interesting. The guy never asked for more than he received and we gave him info on a few jobs (he never looked in on any). If placed in that situation again I think I might ask the person in.

Hmm. I sense you don't like fundies midge. And no we would not. See we believe that part where Jesus told us to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Midge - You know it is really a good thing the Holy Spirit checks me and I don't say on here what I want sometimes. You wouldn't like it.
