I donated $a hundred to international imaginative and prescient final Christmas for the acquisition of a goat for a kinfolk in Africa, as my mothers and dads' Christmas present (by way of fact i'm a scholar, can't spend plenty, and that they are not materialistic besides). I regarded at charities on line from a disinterested website and that that they had: A) a stable popularity, B) distinctive the money that I despatched them (80%? something like that) would surely flow in direction of the acquisition of the goat. the actual incontrovertible fact that they're a Christian charity is beside the point (additionally, something Alex Trebek helps can't be all undesirable, talking as a dyed-in-the-wool Jeopardy buff.) They have been between those with the excellent assure that my money would be spent the place it become necessary, and the goat become by way of fact of soppy motives (kinfolk used to run a goat farm), so it worked out nicely. I spend $264 each year if my math is right ($22/month) on non-religious charity, and $50 final 12 months went to the podunk animal look after the place my mothers and dads are (incidental charity spending), so I spend greater on non-religious than religious. I do keep on the Salvation military now and lower back, and used to artwork there too.

Silly christian, MYTHS are for kids!
But seriously...I had a yard sale a couple of weeks ago and had a lot of clothes left over that I tossed into the trunk of my van. I hauled it down to my local thrift store and they wouldn't take any of it cause it wasn't on hangers or in bags or boxes. I told them that I was just going to toss it in their trash bin if they didn't take it cause I was going to Vegas the next day and needed the space. They really didn't care what i did with it as long as i didn't dump it at their door. Well as I was going to unload it into their trash bin I saw someone I knew and she ended up taking everything from me. I think it's pretty sad when a thrift store is willing to throw something in the trash because they can't take the time to stuff it in a bag or box until they find the time to go through. I had clothes that were brand new with tags too. Bunch of jerks.

Don't judge me. I have thrown clothes away that were ugly. I know what sells at the Salvation Army, and they wouldn't have. Thats just a waste. And where in the bible does it say that you shouldnt throw your junk away?

My local charity shop(help the aged) turned up their noses when i went in with a donation of brand new clothes, they said they had enough stock already!
I couldnt throw it out,so i sold it on ebay and gave the cash to a different charity.

I honestly never throw out anything that is in good condition. I take it to the Clothes Closet which is our local charity. I do throw away anything I deem unwearable because it is either stained or damaged.

I throw away only true trash. I don't throw away something that can be used by another person that cannot afford clothing, shoes, old toys, etc. Christian or not, it's unfair to ignore those that are less fortunate than you.
(I'm a Christian btw)

The only time I throw away clothes is if it is unwearable. Everything else I give to people I know need it. Then I wait for my neighbor to give me her stuff!

I've never had that option ... I've always had to wear mine until they were threadbare. I've thrown stuff out, but only because I doubted even the assistance ministry where I donate stuff would be able to resell it.

Too many. I go through my dresser once a month to see if I need to pitch some clothes. Then off to the salvation army they go.
