This is a trick question right? Because we all know that an ethical responsible hunter will NEVER take a shot at a deer unless he is 100% certain he's going to deliver a quick, humane kill.Chances are, that a ethical responsible hunter will never be 100% certain of a quick humane kill on a running deer, so leading is not really a concern. I hope this helps.

Pass on the shot and let it run off. At 80 yards at a dead run the chances of a clean kill or even a vital hit with a rifled slug are extremely unlikely. The odds are stacked against you. I would of course keep aiming and hope the Deer would stop, but if it kept running, I would let it go....It's not like you are shooting a Pheasant or Duck with shot......

At 80 yards you would have to lead him by atleast 8 to 10 feet...think of it when you shot a duck that is 15 yards away depending on what kind of duck your shooting you lead him by a foot or two....but your shooting loads that can go up to 1550 per second ...shooting a slug that only goes 1300 i would say 10 feet.....don't know where that guy is geting 3/8 of an inch....he has obviously never went duck hunting

Aim at the head. I know eveyone says don't shoot at a running deer. But if you know your gun, it is an etical shot. Pull the scope through the deer until you just see daylight infront of deer, then pull the trigger, dead deer.

If i did it correct, the math says to lead it 3/8 of an inch or so. Fact is at 80 yards, most wont hit it much less make an effective lead amount like your speaking of.
