the detials of this are as follows this is in response to a follow up e-mail were I asked the status of their decision. The thing that gets me is that HR is in a seperate building miles away i dont think they would have taken the time to check all my references and sent my application to HR far away if they were not interested. The call that HR is supposed to make should be a job offer ive never gotten a rejection call only rejections via the mail, and it sound slike he is certain they will be calling me

Without knowing the additional circumstances of when and where this conversation took place and with whom (did you interview a week ago and follow up with them today, or is this what you were told at the end of a first interview?), what you've been told sounds fairly generic . . . you're not hired until they tell you you've got the job and when your first day is. If you had actually been hired, the person would told you this would've been much clearer about it than what you typed.

sounds promising, have you been for another interview yet? Sometimes they do that after they check your refernces, so they can narrow down the field. Its a really good sign though, it cost money to do a background check, so they are serious about hiring you, congrats

they're on the brink of hire you as as we talk as available while they get interior the direction of the hiring technique, yet while they arrive for the era of somebody else who makes a greater appropriate candidate, they're going to maximum in all probability convey you in for yet yet another interview and decide then. do no longer enable them to make you wait too long, wait some days and enable them to be attentive to you're able to be able to desire to be attentive to so which you will save utilising someplace else. Be persistant and well mannered. good success

Doesn't sound good to me. Although, it may be company policy. This kind of response is relative to, "thanks, but no thanks"
In my current position and when I was potentially hired, the interviewer said, "I have three people in mind and I told one of them that if no one blew me away, then she would be hired".
After my interview, she said, "you blew me away". I was hired in the next day.
The thing that disturbs me about your statement is that they said, "Please feel free to give me a call if you do not hear anything by next week." In my opinion, if they wanted to hire you, they would not have said this.

I would not consider that I was hired until I recieved a job offer. Have you been offered the job? If not, until are are and you accept the offer, you are not hired.

it sounds like they have many candidates and aren't punctual at contacting people back. I would say your chances are 50/50
