Someone asked if Jesus was black. Most likely, he was Middle Eastern looking.

However, David Lerner made and interesting point. He wrote: "Children from each culture will render Jesus as looking like themselves unless taught to do differently. This is natural, and I think it is a part of God’s plan for reaching the nations. Jesus is no longer flesh and blood, as we know it. He is different from us. At this point in time we meet him as the Holy Spirit represents him to us. He has no color, no ethnic heritage, and no cultural distinctions except the holiness and righteousness of God."

What do you think of that view? I think it sums it up pretty well: it doesn't matter.

Callen - Interesting point. I'll think on that!

Bob N - uh, well, yeah, oooook. But your response did make me chuckle! lol

The Bereans - I mean his race shouldn't matter, not your answers. He came to save ALL.

Hi.
Sounds like you are a Believer.
I am too.
It does matter. When people ignore Jesus' real identity, history shows they use Him to justify whatever their interests are, historically wars, nationalism, etc. Jesus was Semitic, Jewish Middle-Eastern. The Kingdom of God will consist of members from all nations. We won't see that if we only focus on our own. I have to say I completely disagree.

Why do you ask the question if our answers "doesnt matter"?

Jesus was a jew. He looked like any other average jew of His time. He is NOT, "no longer flesh and blood......as the Holy Spirit represents Him to us".

He lived in a certain country, with a certain heritage and culture. Much of what He said cannot be understood properly without that background in mind.

He came to His own people FIRST.

If He was today as YOU would have Him represented, He would not be the Jesus of the bible. But just another Jesus of another "cult".

Children may indeed represent Him with their own heritage. Being limited in knowledge. This is natural. And should be corrected as they gain a more mature understanding.

What you are describing is a sort of "Cosmic Christ".

"All things to all men".

Sorry. TRUTH doesnt work that way.

Until one knows the REAL Jesus of the bible, on His terms, all that one has is fictional character who cant save ANYONE.

(since that character doesnt exist)

....theBerean

Not sure why they deleted this question. I thought it was pretty good. I think that we all came from Adam and Eve so it really doesn't matter what color Jesus was because He was just as genetically perfect as Adam and Eve were. He had the genetic coding for all the races! Due to where he was born, he most likely looked darker skinned but no one knows for sure. :)

Well scripture reads that Jesus had the appearance of the following: You can make your own decision from it.

:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks [one] like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
1:14 His head and [His] hairs [were] white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes [were] as a flame of fire;
1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and His voice as the sound of many waters.
1:16 And He had in His right hand seven stars: and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and His countenance [was] as the sun shineth in his strength. (KJV translation

I think its exactly right. Ever since I was old enough to understand where Jesus was born I realized that he probably looked middle eastern. but still its easier for some reason to picture him looking more like me

Many people avoid what they don't understand, or they show hate towards it.
If God wanted us to focus on what He looked like then we would have had a clear picture. Instead we are to focus on the spiritual aspect of our faith. Not what we can see.
Besides we are all one race just different cultures.

His golden colored hair and beard gave to his appearance a celestial aspect. He appeared to be about 30 years of age.

Oh by the way there are 3 different letters from 3 different people who all discribe him as having blond hair.
