You know, the whole "make them sharp enough to cut your tongue" deal. And I mean the front top teeth, maybe the first six?

Well, it depends upon to what extent you are speaking of. If you want to have your front teeth equal, then yes you can. The dentist uses a sanding blade, not much different than a professional carpenter's sanding blade. While it is smaller,; forget about that. You can use a fine grain sandpaper, but you must wrap around a straight object so that you don't end up with a lop sided effect.

Im afraid to admit that im related to a person who did this himself. He didnt sharpen the teeth but filed them down to get a dent out. He wasnt to smart because he didnt know where the root was. He didnt reach it but if he did it would have been the most painful situation in his life. You wont know where the root is, if you hit it, you just hit a nerve. Get it done professionaly, but it is possible, get a drill like my brother did, and just do it. I am HIGHLY advising you not to do it yourself.

It'll be painful once you're thru the enamel. Why don't you just have an overlay made (like for movies), that way, you don't have to wake up one day and regret a dumb choice of youth.

Heck no!! You are better off to let a professional handle it. They have the proper tools and I guarantee if you damage your tooth or mouth while attempting to do it yourself, you will end up having to have them fix it anyway .... and paying substantially more in the process.

It's possible to do so, but I would suggest seeing a professional. If you did it yourself, that could lead to exposing the root, which is extremely painful and requires surgical procedure.
