A bouncer is nothing more than a security guard for the business he is employed by. They have no powers off arrest but can protect the business and the patrons.
That said.......... if a death occurs an investigation will / should be conducted. They will evaluate if any and all force used in the altercation meets one criteria... Was it for the defense of the bouncer or an innocent patron. If the force used was excessive it should be ruled as at least Manslaughter if not Murder.
Believe me, as a cop I have investigated many cases where the bouncers lost control and used excessive force. They are subject to the same laws of engagement as any other private citizen. They are NOT immune from charges. I have put plenty of them in jail.
Also, the family would have a great civil lawsuit against the bar.
I hope they have a good lawyer.

Security officers do indeed have the power to arrest. But it is the same power that the private citizen has.
The laws of use of force are the issue here. The Bouncers are authorized by the owner of the establishment to act on his behalf. They have the right to eject form the property, any person deemed to be trespassing. They have the right to use force to eject persons unwilling to leave. Their authority ends at the property line. They have the right to stop a fight, but not to initiate one.
The force used must conform to those regulations established in each state for the use of unarmed, chemical and armed conflicts. Bouncers acting as security must be licensed by the state. They are trained in the proper use of force. If you think an abuse has occurred, you may inquire of a lawyer who will compare the happenings against the statutes to see if everything was legal. If anything was wrong, then the Security "bouncer' and the establishment and the owner are all liable for the damages and/or criminal action.

SO SORRY TO HEAR. I WORKED AS A BOUNCER BEFORE WE GOT O/T. AS A BOUNCER THEY ARE RESTRICTED TO WHAT CAN BE DONE BY THEM TO PATRONS.
TOO MANY BOUNCERS TO DAY FEEL THEY ARE PART OF THE MACHO SYNDROME AND THE WWF SLAMDOWN SOCIETY.
IN 1960'S, I THINK IT WAS A CONCERT WITH THE ROLLING STONES IN MONTERAY?? THEY HIRED THE HELLS ANGLES TO PROTECT THEM. TWO OR THREE FANS WERE KILLED AND THE BIKERS CHARGED IN THEIR DEATHS.
LIKEWISE I HAVE SEEN BOUNCERS IN PRISON FOR THE SAME THING AS ABOVE. SENSELESS, USELESS FORCE.
THE LAWS OF YOUR STATE WILL TELL WHAT LAWS CAN BE APPLIED TO THE USE OF FORCE USED HERE.
CERTAINLY AT LEAST, WE ARE AS DESCRIBED ABOVE LOOKING AT A DEATH ( MURDER 1ST DEGREE PREMEDITATED)
I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THEIR SIDE OF THE STORY??
THE PARKING LOT IS USUALLY COVERED AS PART OF THE OWNERS PROPERTY. BUT THIS IS OUTSIDE OF THE FACILITY ITSELF. THEY MAY HAVE A RIGHT TO PATROL IT BUT WHAT ACTION WOULD PROMPT A KILLING? YOU NEED A GOOD CASE FILED AGAINST THE ESTABLISHMENT THAT HIRED AND THUS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BOUNCERS ACTIONS AND ONE AGAINST THE BOUNCERS. THIS IS BOTH A CIVIL CASE FOR DAMAGES AND A CRIMINAL CASE IN A DEATH. A GOOD ATTORNEY WILL HAVE NO REAL PROBLEM WITH THIS CASE AND AND ADEQUATE CONTINGENCY FEE AT 80 /20.

in California, "bouncers" are subject to the same laws as everyone else...that is, they may only use that force which is necessary to protect themselves or others and then only that force which is in relation to what is used against them. For example, one (a bouncer or anyone else) can not shoot someone for being pushed or having his foot stepped on. The only time deadly force is allowed in self defense is when the victim is in fear of death of great bodily harm himself.

seem at international historic previous throughout sessions like the Crusades,or The Inquisition, and you're starting to be your answer.each and every place that has been ruled over fullyyt by making use of their faith has been a real horror to behold, with very few exceptions. Even in as we talk's international we are in a position to make certain maximum folk of the middle East, the place the completed concept of human rights is purely a myth. there may be relative peace on the exterior in a number of those countries no longer at conflict, yet even interior the likely ordered societies there is an undercurrent of something plenty greater vile.i won't be able to think of residing in a society ruled fullyyt by making use of the Dogmas of any of the Abrahamic religions, the least repulsive of them being Judaism,a minimum of in prepare. yet even they are in a position to get relatively nasty while the prospect arises,Crucifixion anybody? the factor being, our superb guess for non violent co-life is presented in fantastically much fullyyt secular societies. If others desire to hold directly to their historical myths and superstitions it relatively is nice, yet they could desire to maintain it to themselves for the main section. Obama666
