my brother lives in new york and wants to give me his camero, is it worth the trouble? What will the import costs be aside from the shipping fare?

You can expect add around 30% for import duty, VAT and brokerage fees. This is levied in the total value of the vehicle, including the shipping costs.

So if the Camaro is worth £10,000 and shipping costs are £1,000, you can expect to add £3,300 in fees.

In order to get it registered in the U.K., it will need to pass an SVA test - around £750.

But if he's giving you the car in the first place, it's still a bargain!

This is going to cost you about £5000 in fees but if the car is in good nick its well worth the hastle especially as its free it you want you could sell it on in the UK for a large profit
