To answer in the same spirit in which you ask . . .

Ha!
You think you can separate out body, mind and spirit do you?
Look at the YabYum.
The whole of everything is an act of love. Teasing and enticing. 'Come and find me, my love! Enfold me in your desire and melt into me, my love. Come and find me, my beloved Self'.

Oo-er! I wonder where that came from? The words in inverted commas actually came THROUGH me. They weren't mine. I had energy surges while typing them and they made me want to cry.

_()_ Sunman.

EDIT,
To your footnote.
Yes, of course! What other way indeed!

I think there are so many taboos surrounding sex and sexuality; ones we have put there for certain. As a culture, we view the body not so much as a beautiful expression of life, as we do an instrument of lust and shame. This is due to our attachment to ego. Jealousy, possessiveness, shame, these all come from the ego.
Sex can be a very spiritual experience. It can be an expression of deep love. There has be full disclosure and connectedness for this to happen. Unfortunately, many people live fragmented lives, disconnected from their own spirits which makes it impossible to connect with others.
I wouldn't say the spirit is lusty, but it is sexual. I would definitely say the body is spiritual.
So we take this temple, the body, and invite someone in to share its beauty, and it is as natural as breathing the air. We will understand this when we shed the Puritanical beliefs that still infiltrate our sexually confused society.

I Will Rogers always wanted to meet Mark Twain.

The spirit within man lusts for oneness (completion). This carries over into the relationship between the male and female of the specie. This requires tender loving care.

The body is a temple, and can be spiritual, depending upon the condition of the inner heart. It can be either used as a house of prayer or a house of ill-repute. Maintenance is highly recommended.

East is East and West is West, and shortly the twain shall meet! Mergence of the physical (West) and spiritual (East) is inevitable. It is difficult to see this, because of much negativity within the various religions, yet the merger is accelerating at a quantum pace.

The spirit can be lusty, erotic, passionate, and more. The body is spiritual, in movement of each muscle, if you watch the way the muscles move, the tendons...the bone, all in the process of movement. Watch a guitar player watch the muscles in the arm, yes that is very spiritual, and lusty and well what did you expect. The way a drummer plays the movement, the expressions, very spiritual. And how can the spirit not lust for such...

Of course there are so many more examples, but this is what came to mind...

"never the twain shall meet" ?

lol, they meet right where whoever holds the compass is standing

im not sure whether or not i'd say that the body is spiritual, mainly because im not entirely clear on what that would mean; but i will say that the body is every bit as real as the spirit, and should not be ignored or forsaken, and certainly not hated.

sex is a great thing;)

I'd say yes....
Sexuality can be and is an over whelming driving force in all of nature including man. It dictates 90% of our activities in life and colors almost all that we do if we are honest with ourselves. It gives life turmendous meaning. If we are here it is impossible to seperate the body from the spirit as long as we are in that body so yes it is spiritual at least until we die, then our spirit remains but the body ceases to.

I wouldn't say lusty more like erotic, yes the spirit is very erotic. Everything is in a way erotic, the meeting and coming into contact with different forms, even thoughts. The body is the manifestation of the formless and timeless into form and time. Why would spirit want to do this unless it was for *contact*.................... a very naughty spirit indeed. ~ : )

EDIT: #2 Jon that's really a great answer.

I am a Scorpio. Throughout my reproductive years my body was very sexual and sensual and I enjoyed it immensely, pleasuring and being pleasured. I never heard any complaints. I devoted myself and my expertise to my husband who thought he was a 'god' to ALL women through my worship. After 23 years he went looking for more than he needed and we divorced. He suffers the consequences. I can have my choice of many men but I choose to let sleeping senses rest. I don't require that kind of energy to live happily ever after. The hugs of children are sincere enough for me.

Some of the greatest moments in life, for me, have been observing the very thought process that permeates the mind-space during sex... two voices become one... and then to watch that voice drift into oblivion in the bliss of an orgasm..... Heaven!

Yes I definitely think the body expresses spirituality through sex (and lots of other ways as well)

In fact for me that's the one of the times I am truly in the moment, in the *now*. I am unified with my husband, we are at one. One body, one mind, one spirit....working in tandem. For me it's like transcendence.
