Thy initially wanted the 38. Yates did no longer desire to offer the quantity up and that i think of it had to do with the sponsor. Yates presented the 88 to Hendrick and Jr. and that they have got been shocked that he did that. The 28 gets back with Travis Kvapil using it. As for as a sponsor, they're working with them to artwork out the bugs. for the duration of the pre-race before the truck race, Kvapil grew to become into speaking approximately how excited he grew to become into to be presented the job.. He additionally reported that they have got been working with the sponsor and likewise picking a quantity. He in fact advised each and every person that he would not have the 88. So who else to have the 88 yet Jr. good success Jr. and good fortune and much greater acceptance next year. NASCAR, it relatively is a lifestyle!!!

I assume its probably partly sponsor specific . Mountain Dew's colors are green and red after all. And I ssume they keep it on the Guard car to keep it red, white and blue.....
The entire yellow trend started this year...so its not like a long standing tradition here. Remember the 5 was red and white (Tide) at one point, the 25 was green (Kodiak) and white.

the HMS color is yellow not green, I looked it up. as for Dale Jr why is it such a big deal? so what if Jr's car number is a different color, why pick on every little thing Jr does? Do you really care what color Jr's number is? Does it really bug you that bad? All i see on here is how Jr is doing this and Jr is doing that. Please just let him be. He can not seem to make anyone happy no matter what he does. A real nascar fan does not pick on every little thing another driver does. I am a Dale Jr fan i am behind him no matter what!!!!!!!!

Because Dale Jr has the greatest fan base in the Nextel Cup Series. He wanted his fans with tattoos to have an easier time changing the 8 to 88.

Because Jr had his hand in the design of the car, and since he ran the 8 in honor of his grandfather he made the 8's red. On Ralph's cars the 8 was red, see the tribute car he ran a few years back to see what I mean.

Because Jr wanted to have his hand in on designing his own car so that is probably the reason it is that way, Hendrick once told somebody "He's not worried about the big stuff, just the little stuff". I imagine that had to do with Jr having no say so in his sponsors so Hendrick let him do what he wanted with the car design.
