and differentiate them from God? It seems that they do not understand that the laws aren't just constraints. They are the basic reality that allows us to operate. They define the possibilities. Even if we are in the supernatural, in the domain of God, nothing is possible without order, without intelligence, without laws.

Clearly, the Christians do not believe that God is chaotic, without order. They believe that He is intelligent, expresses order, etc. As total and unlimited as he can be, His intelligence is the expression of some laws. These laws must always have been with God, because He was eternally intelligent.

Moreover, there cannot be two set of fundamental laws, the laws of nature and the laws of God. Otherwise,. even more fundamental laws would be needed to connect them, which would be a contradiction with the nature of God. So, the fundamental laws behind God are the fundamental laws of nature. There is only one ultimate reality and that is God eternally with the laws.

No, the laws of nature aren't man made. No scientist believes that the laws of nature are man made. The current laws of physics, etc. are man made, but all scientists know that we do not know what are the most fundamental laws of nature. We try to find them.

Randy G: Yes, but then you admit that the computer has laws. So, similarly, God was eternally with laws. These laws are the most fundamental laws of nature because they determine every other laws of nature. This is by definition what we call the most fundamental laws of nature.

You see when scientists try to find the most fundamental laws of nature, they do not limit themselves at all. They might agree with you that we will never be able to fully grasp them. So, conceptually, their notion of most fundamental laws of nature is not restricted at all, and so is consistent with the intelligence of God. If you take this standard notion of most fundamental laws of nature together with your belief in God, you must conclude that these most fundamental laws of nature are the laws that were eternally with God. The atheist-scientists might not understand, but this is their problem, not yours.

Your view of God is a logical one. However, remember that there's one difference in characteristics between this God of science and the God of religion. The God of religion (at least in Christianity) is supposed to be love, while the God of science (The universal fundamental laws ) seems to be directly or indirectly responsible for many sufferings in this world (earthquakes, tsunami, illness, the food chain, etc), so it can't be all love as it is described in the holy book. This is probably one of the reasons I think Christians (although I'm not a christian) are reluctant to accept this scientific view of God.

Randy G makes an interesting analogy, but it flounders on one point of theology. It is not the nature of the programmer to program. If we say anything other than that it is the nature of the source of space/time to emerge as the universe we see, then there must be some reason for the universe, some lack that the universe fills. For those who would agree with him, is your god missing something?

Yours, dear asker, is the only internally and externally consistent view of a source of the universe, and, though I see no personality, I will not quibble with you over the use of the term "god".

(((Nice to see you again)))

Not necessarily true. Think of a programmer creating a virtual reality in a computer. The laws that the programmer creates inside his virtual world does not have to mirror or reflect the laws that exist in his natural world.

The laws of science and nature are man made laws and God defies those laws. With God all things are possible.

I'm joyful that you have determined to be a Christian. First of all, faith can also be very unhealthy. What you must recognition on is a courting w/Jesus Christ. I can not inform you how primary that's. Get your self a Bible if you happen to do not have one already. NIV is a well variation. Start with the guide of John within the New Testament to have an understanding of who Christ is and what he is performed for you. Find a Bible believing church. I am keen on Baptist or non denominational. Just ensure the church does not recognition on legalism.....or regulations. Find one that specializes in being like Christ. If we comply with Christ's illustration of affection, forgiveness and fact, we are not able to lose. Begin by way of speaking to the management of the church so they are able to support get you at the proper direction. They can hook you up w/peers your age so as to start to have well fellowship.
