The Aztec people. It was first introduced over 1500 years ago, and it's first version was in drink form.

Cocoa beans were roasted and dried in the sun, then put into vessels and boiled with water.

It wasn't until the late 1600's that cocoa was introduced to Europe, where it was enjoyed as a beverage, the cooks experimented, making what is now known chocolate.

Cocoa is NOT chocolate. Chocolate is a combination of ingredients, one of which is cocoa. Therefore chocolate WAS invented.

well what type of chocolate...the Europeans came to South and Central America and got coco beans from the Aztecs..they used it in some kind of hot chocolate drink..but the Dutch are the ones to make Chocolate like when know today..I am sure if you do a search on Chocolate there is a ton of stuff out there in yahoo land..good luck..I love chocolate I have some Reese cups waiting for me..later

Nobody invented chocolate. The Aztecs discovered it though. They made a much spicier version than we have today.
