I heard that when a new car has 60 miles on it, that it no longer can be call a new car. Even if the car isn't sold yet. So is it possible for a new car to become used even if it is still at the dealer.

When you drive a new car off the dealers lot, taking ownership and possession of the vehicle, the car becomes a used car!

In other words, test drives and service do not count. As soon as you buy the car, it becomes a used car!

A car is 'new' when it has never been owned by an individual. Cars come from the factory to the dealer with a Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO). Only when someone buys that car and the MCO is submitted to the DMV is a title issued for the car. Once a car is titled, it is technically 'used'. However, if you buy a new car, drive it around the block and back onto the dealer's lot to trade it in, you have a 'used' car to trade. Occaisonally you can find a 'new' car on a dealer's lot with more miles on it (demonstrater, parts runner, loaner for the service dept.) than the same model sitting on the used side of the lot.

It becomes a used car the minute the title is transferred to an individual for end-use. Mileage has nothing to do with it although anything over 150 miles or so the dealer is going to have a hard time selling it at full price.

A new car is new until you take possession of it and drive it home. If you are the original owner and sell it the next day it is a used car. I believe once the car is TITLED the next change of title will say USED!

it actually cant be called a new car once the title has been changed in to someones name, its only new when its still not registered to anyone,as soon as the paper work goes through, the car is considered used,if with only 50 miles on it,its till a used car,as long as it has never been titled its still considered new, that's a weird law that they have on doing this though, but that the way its written out, good luck with it.

As long as the car has never been titled it is technically still a new car.

Mileage has nothing to do with it.
