largely, it is a function of society and upbringing. without the proper training, they are like dogs in the street. peer pressure, bad family rearing, military, movies, paperback novels etc. have created this undesireable behavior. what was an aberration years ago is the norm today. not the norm for some of us. it accounts for the vast majority of divorce and single mother families and the growing problems of youth. with all the defaults, religions general did more good than harm. providing good ideals and direction to strive toward. religion is on the wane and some consider it an endangered species. maybe religion or something akin to relegion is really needed today.

They have more than 1 gf, for the same reason some girls have more than 1 bf. Most are either into playing the field or are Afraid of commitment. It is a fact of life than some guys and some girls want to have the whole pie instead of the best slice. You have a choice, be part of a "player's" life or go for someone who wants a sincere relationship.

Because they're assholes. Those are the guys that give guys in general a bad name. For me, the only woman for me is my fiance. At a time in my life, I was fooling around with several different women, but first off, I was never exclusive with any of them, nor did I claim to be, and secondly, they all knew about each other. As far as relationships and girlfriends, I'm a one woman man. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but if you're with someone, be with just them...

Nowhere have I seen where one is required to have one girlfriend at a time. There are just too many people who think the minute you say "friend of the other sex", that some covential relationship has been entered into. Having a fiance at the same type is stretching things a bit, I'll grant you that.

Maybe you should go back to the old "friend, friend of the other sex, 'steady', fiancee, wife, ex-wife cycle"

If he has a fiance and two girlfriends, I would say that he is not serious about any of them. He is jeopardizing the fiance and he is using the other girls. It would be even crazy if they know of each other. This shows that the man is not ready for marriage. Maybe they all like the arrangement.

He has them because (1)the women in his life allow him to. If they are unaware of the situation, then he is a player and both men and women are guilty of this. Not all but there are many who are players. If you are a serious minded person when it comes to dating, then it is entirely your responsibility to protect yourself from being played upon.
Throughout your life remember this You are responsible for your happiness. Never let that be the job of others. If you do, you will always be unhappy.

I think it all depends on the guy. Some do it just to see if they can pull it off - they like the challenge.

Some don't know how to break-up with a girl, so instead of just saying he's not happy and dumping her, he just goes out and starts dating other girls.

Some get bored easily and need more than one girl to satisfy their physical needs.

No matter which reason, their all jerks and aren't man enough to lay everything out on the table.

Unless they happen to find a bunch of girls that don't mind sharing. If thats the case.... well, then he's pretty damn lucky.

These guys are not ready to be involved in a serious, committed relationship with anyone because they haven't reached that level of maturity and responsibility. Basically, they are still kids in a candy store and they can't make up their minds what they really want.

It's just some man with superiroity issue. Maybe his father didn't hug him as a child.
He's just trying to feel like a great, powerful man by having so many women by his side.
An idiot in my opinion, who really isn't good enough for the women he's with.

I'm guessing it makes them feel good about themselves... Like they're so great to be able to have multiple girlfriends, when in reality it makes them a bad person.
Women cheat sometimes but it's mostly guys who do it.
