Actually I could be wrong but I don't think our Holy Book (Bible) tells us either way. That's could be why it is debated so much.
idk

BTW: I'd like to ask if the book was Darwin's Origin of Species that said animals don't have spirits and / or souls, would you believe it because a book told you so????

Ecclesiastes 3:19 (NIV) Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is vanity.

Only dishonest Christians won't quote you God's Holy Word the Bible which was inspired word by word by God the Holy Ghost... I DO!!! And I am not taking anything out of context! I have no need to lie to anybody! I quote the Bible as a public service...

I can't say they are an empty shell. However, if they had a soul and were accountable like us. They'd be accountable foe right/wrong. Animals will be in Heaven the Bible does say, if that's what you mean. You know, the lion/lamb.

I believe all sentient and non sentient beings have a "soul". That is not exactly the word I would choose to describe my belief but for the sake of this discussion I will go with the flow.

animals do have a soul, that is what allows them to know right and wrong, (a dog knows when it is in trouble). but what the do not have is a spirit, What compells man to worship. there isn't a single animal that worships. thus no spirit.

Actually, the Bible says that animals, even fish are souls.

It also says that there is no superiority in regard to the spirit -- and yes, a book told me. God's word.

That you don't believe what is real and part of what soon will be seen as such when Christ is revealed in his terrifying glory is your loss -- not ours.

The same book that told them they do have souls, which is also an unsupported claim.

Humans are animals. If cats, dogs, fish and frogs don't have souls, neither do we.

Sorry, Christian folks. Can't have it both ways. :P

And besides. Who in the hell does it hurt to believe in animals having souls? Absolutely no one.
