depends, do you have a high school diploma? navy, air force do not take a ged, have you taken the asvab? if so what did you score. i like the navy myself, for one reason over alot of others, you will not be sent to iraq, you get to see lots of ports of call, while on ship, they also match monies for education.

You didn't really give enough information, but here's a quick summary of each one.
The Air Force gets the most advanced technology as far as aircraft go, has the toughest training procedure (look up Special Aircraft Weapons Training- 9 months of 20-hour days with 4-5 hours of sleep!), but also has the finest living conditions and best places to be stationed, namely the west coast, USA and Germany.
The Navy is a good experience, and even though they lack the jets that the USAF has, theirs' are only a notch below, and play an equally important role. Other than carrier landings though, their training is substantially easier than the USAF, and living conditions are nothing close. HOWEVER, submarine crewmen have the best living conditions in the entire armed forces, but only the best crews serve on them.
The Marines is tough, but like all the other branches, a good experience. They're actually the smallest branch besides the Coast Guard, and are somewhat a "watered-down" mixture of the other three major branches, including Navy aircraft, limited army tanks and weaponry, and some helicopters from the Air Force.
The Army is the "heavy tonnage" while the Marines are the "light assault tonnage," operating the strongest ground assault ordinance, including the Apache (which IS superior to the Cobra) and the Abrams, which the Marines only maintain a very small number of. The Army is also linked to two of America's three most important Special Forces groups- the Rangers and Delta Force.
If you're really smart and like the posh, fast-paced lifestyle, then go Air Force.
If you like water (like, morning excercises while being hosed) alot, and don't mind slightly slower and less maneuverable aircraft in exchange for good food, go Navy.
If you like a sergeant kicking your *** while gradually turning you into a killing machine, and like water, but not as much as the Navy, go Marines.
If you like serious firepower or flying helicopters, go Army.
Avoid the reserve or national guard though, because both of these require an additional job on the side to live off of, and if you get shipped out, you must quit your job, and when you get back, you've got nothing to do.

I have been in the Army for 10 years (5 National Guard and 5 Active) Every branch has it's advantages. The Marines are small so they can be selective but they also have much less choice of jobs and duty location. The army is huge but has a lot of different things you can do and more opportunity for SF and Ranger and the like. if you are real smart ask about High School to Flight school and become a helicopter pilot! Just think about what you want to do in the military and then look at what Branch you want to join you can talk to more than one branch at once If you don't get what you want ask at the end of the month, quarter or Fiscal year, they will be trying to get their numbers up at the last min so they will work harder for what you want.

I have been a Military Spouse for 12 years. My husband is in the Army. When they say the Army is the Toughest Job you will ever love, they mean that quite literally. I recomend the Air Force, they are cared for the BEST! If you are just joining for the college money and then are going to get out, it doesn't really matter what Branch you join. If you are going to make a life long commitment, I would check out the Air Force First! I wish you the best in whatever it is you choose to do. Good Luck!

Unlike some of these pessimists, joining the Armed Forces does NOT equal killing, Iraq, etc. Joining any branch of the Armed Forces is an admirable thing. It means you are willing to uphold all that this country stands for. What branch should you join? Ultimately that is your decision. What do you want to do? Are you going to college? Do you have a degree already? Are you married? Children? All of this plays a big role in your decision. I don't know much about the other branches. My husband is in the Army National Guard (actually thinking about Active Duty) The training is the same for the Army, Reserve Army, and Army National Guard. Here's the difference: Army (Active) are the ones who live on posts (Fort Jackson, Fort Knox etc.) I'm not entirely sure how that all works but very soon hope to find out. Reserves are the ones who are called up when the Active don't have enough. They hold normal jobs until duty calls. The National Guard are the ones whose duty is two fold. They aren't just for foreign missions but when disaster strikes at home (tornado, wild fire, hurricane etc.) they are the ones who respond. The National Guard trains one weekend a month with the same group of people. Your unit you train with (after Basic and AIT) is the one you would be called up with. You can not be called up on your own. The entire unit gets called up. So the guys you train with, you go over with. What you need to do is do some research online. Type whichever branch you want to look at and the main site should pop up right at the top. Most of these sites have ways to chat with someone in the branch online. There are ways to find a recruiter in your area. It's worth at least talking to them to see what it's all about. But the decision is yours and yours alone. Good luck and God bless you.

I served 4 years in the Navy in communications and loved the job. I also enjoyed being 'at sea', the technology, the food's not bad and unless you're a Seal, crawling around in the mud is NOT part of the training.
No matter which branch you go into, boot camp is the pits. It goes by fast though, then you're off to 'A' school and the fun begins.
Unfortunately, I'm too old to serve now, but if they asked, I'd do it again.

If you want to learn a technical trade eg. aviation mechanic. nuclear reactor operator etc join the Navy or Air Force just remember qualifying for the school is only the first step... you must graduate high in your class to be assigned to your chosen occupation.... low scores in class could mean driving trucks down dangerous roads in Iraq.... If you want "a gym class" with bullets and bombs then join the Marines....Very physically demanding and mind altering.....regardless no branch is for a dummy or a malcontent..... If you don't like cooperating and taking orders u will FAIL and fail miserably

Go Air Force. I've been AF for over 7 years now and they take care of you the best by far of all the other branches. Shorter trips to Iraq & Afghanistan, better accommodations, and better looking women. Plus much more of an opportunity to see the world, instead of just the ocean. Trust me on this one...

I would say the Air Force...All I do is sit at my desk, do analysis of "stuff" and exercise for 2 hours a day.
However, if you want action, go Marines or Army.
Navy is fine if you wanna do stuff like I do, sit around. There really isn't another Navy in the world that can match our power.

Depends on what your goals in life, are you joining for education and experience, for a military or civilian career? Pretty much any branch will give you that but at this time because of Iraq and Afghanistan, I would focus on the Coast Guard.
