I'm graduating in May 2008 with a BA in Criminal Justice. It's to my understanding that i can enter as Lt plus obtain a sign on bonus because of my education. I currently work in pharmacy as a tech. What jobs could i do to incorporate my skills and education. My goal is to get into FBI or DEA. What job within the marines can i do to increase my chance to become accepted to DEA or FBI?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thank You

The FBI is really interested in graduate degrees, especially in law and accounting. They also like computer degrees. If you are still intent on joining the Marines first, try for legal services or MP as the other poster said. If you serve all of the years you agree to and are honorably discharged, you get some extra points on any exam for Federal service. Just remember that Marines are shooters first, so you may wind up somewhere hot, no matter your MOS.

Check usajobs.com or fbi.gov for hiring guidelines.

Nicolmcg is dead on. Law , Accounting and Computer Geek is big on the FBI list. Most I met years back had Law Degrees. One guy had been an Army MP in the late 60's and one a street cop for 10 years. They don't do a lot of cop type stuff. It is a lot of stuff that makes very boring movies. The Secret Service Protection Services might find Criminal Justice more to their liking but never met any of them. The Secret Services other role is similar to the FBI, heavy on investigation. The one DEA agent I met retired in the early 90's. From what he told me though they might find CJ a good fit too but I am only guessing.

It all depends what you want to do in the FBI/DEA. If you want to do something pertaining to your major, you may be interested in the 44xx (Legal Services) or the 58xx (Military Police and Corrections) MOS fields. Any prior experience in the Marine Corps will look good on an application to the FBI, but these two MOS fields should look good, if this is the area you want to focus on.
