Yea.

I think the most important part of most college applications, is showing a passion in an extracirricular (prefferably outside your field of choice.) And church seems to not be related to art, so I'd say you have a good shot.

Go ahead and apply!

Hello Dave:

I attended jr. college and then applied to the UofI and was accepted. My HS career was not that good, but made up for it in Jr. Coll.

From the first visit to the school, until the day I withdrew after the first semester, it was one of the most miserable experiences of my life. As an undergrad, the school treats you like trash. The only thing you mean to them is a source of income. One of my classes had 1000 students in attendance. The grad student who "taught" the class read out of a book and we followed along from a slide show projector. I don't even know what the class was about, it was required for graduation. The up side of going to the UofI is that when I die, I won't fear hell, because I've been to the UofI and seen it first hand.

Do yourself a big favor. If you want to study art, attend a different school. I transferred to Illinois State and had a much better experience. Smaller school, actually could communicate with my instructors, and the art department was top-notch. The BFI program is excellent.

What type of art do you wish to study? commercial, fine, or art for art's sake?
