Well, it depends on who you are, and who the someone is.

For example, when I'm with my wife's parents, I'd avoid using the idiom "I'm just happier'n a pig in sh!t", not that I'd use it anyway.

If I were on the radio or television, I'd avoid using the idiom "nappy headed ho", but if I were a rapper, I could use it all I wanted to.
