Daughter and her fiance are talking about doing this.....I had never heard of it; go on a 7 day cruise but for 3 of those days you have your family there and that is when you actually get married....??? doesn't sound right to me to have family 'along' on the honeymoon.......

This is a type of destination wedding which has become very popular. If you go to http://www.wedding-savings-for-bride-groom.com/honeymoon.html and fill out a simple form and you will be contacted by up to 4 travel companies that handle this kind of destination wedding.

There is no cost for this service and no obligation to use any of them who contact you.

It actually quite popular. Look on www.rccl.com, they have some pictures and details.
Alot of brides are doing destination weddings and this is basically the same thing. If its a 7 day cruise then the family won't be 'on the honeymoon' the whole time, and like someone else posted many of the ships are rather large and it can sometimes be difficult finding someone even if you wanted to.

I actually talked to my daughter about doing a wedding cruise. Years ago I choreographed the wedding dance for a couple who had 25 other couples (family members mostly) going along on the cruise. They all took dance lessons so they could dance on the cruise. I thought it a great way for everyone to enjoy a vacation.

While on one cruise that we took to Alaska, a couple got married at one of the stops with family members in attendance.

With all the destination weddings, etc. that young people are going today, a cruise is a great way for everyone to truly enjoy a memorable experience.

By the way, by all booking at the same time you should be able to get a great deal on prices for airlines as well as the cruise.

Hi. Yes, that is a popular option now. Have you ever been on a cruise? The ships are HUGE....you may not run into your daughter the whole cruise!! But, yes, it's a good option.

Tell your daughter....the only cruise line that offers "weddings at sea" is Princess Cruise Line. ALL others, you must be married before the ship leaves port, or is anchored in another port.

I've heard of this happening, but never actually known of anyone to do it. I think it's more of a small, private ceremony. I can only assume that people who do this type of wedding are very close to their family.

And being on a honeymoon cruise with your family doesn't mean they are with you all the time. These cruise ships are huge! They may only see each other for the ceremony, and that's it.

I've heard of it. I think the idea is the family hangs out for the first couple days, leading up to the wedding on the third day .Then the family leaves and it's honeymoon time. =0)
My sister got married in Jamaica and that is how we did it. We all said goodbye after the reception (ok after the after party) flew out early the next morning and they stayed for the rest of the week.

and I thought MY dad was old! Just kidding! the destination weddings are pretty popular nowadays! it's not my style - I wanted a wedding where all my family and friends could come to. a wedding on a cruise ship tends to be of a smaller scale - since not a lot of guests may be invited. and it does help out one who to invite or who not to invite. plus you never know who would want to spend their vacation time to attend your wedding...

Its a very very big boat, after the ceremony and "family time" there are pleanty of excursions to shore that will be just them. Its a nice way to spend more tiem with your family and cut the cost of the wedding. I like the idea

Sounds great to me!!! I went on a cruise 2 years ago and there was a little wedding chapel on board and it looked so romantic. Made me wish I had a special someone with me so I could do it.
Very romantic. And quite common I believe
